Did you argue that Jones should get a pass because of depth? You can't have it both ways. Either these losses were acceptable or UT has a depth problem. It can't be both.
Would you rather them stay and hate it here? You ever gone somewhere you thought you'd like but once you got there you didn't like it? Well it happens to athletes too. If they stay and hate it, then they can become cancers or worse. they likely wouldn't help out in recruiting. So calm down and it will take 4 years to build depth. We are in year 2.not alot of DL's are ready to be big contributors coming out of hs
hell even most 5 stars need a yr
There is an issue if these kids were promised starting positions and were lied to. Hendrix is the bigger loss. Scott was being recruited over. Helm is a bit if a mystery but I suspect it had something to do with Alex Ellis.
You are stating that my logic is flawed when you base your entire argument on hear-say and non-tangible on the field evidence?
I think they all had potential, as you like to point out. I never said they sucked. At the same time, they were beaten out by other guys in their class. If they are that unhappy about it and not man enough to stay and win time, they wouldn't have done much if they had stayed.
There, I used some of the same conjecture you've been using this entire time.
Dude, give it a rest! You sound like a broken record. Butch will be here at least five tears and if you don't like it, go cheer for someone else!
Vic Wharton got more playing time than Hendrix. That means Wharton is better than Hendrix, right? That's basically what you're saying. Hendrix couldn't possibly be one of the best players because one freshman at his position started ahead of him and lots of other freshmen started at positions that he doesn't play. There's the flaw in your logic. Hendrix might not have been the best, but I have no doubt he was one of the biggest wins in the last recruiting class. Losing him is a huge kick to the nads. Doesn't destroy our class. Doesn't mean the sky is falling. It is a big loss though.

While I am in full support of CBJ and the program I can't stand it when people say things like that. Just because you aren't happy with something doesn't mean you abandon it to find something else. That's like saying my 3 year old pissed his pants in the mall today guess I better go find another kid.
Happens everwhereSome of you hang your hat on Butch's recruiting because he has yet to prove he can get it done on the field. Now we see defections from his Top 5 recruiting class and instead of wondering about what the coaches are doing, you attack the players. What the hell kind of sense does that make? Is the sky falling? No, but damn, please stop pumping rainbows out your ass and look at this realistically. It is never good to lose highly rated prospects after their freshman year. For those saying they didn't do much, they're freshman for crying out loud. Guys like Barnett and Hurd are the exceptions, not the norms. Most recruits don't contribute big their freshman years. Most need a little time in the S & C program.
It's not the end of the world, but it's certainly alarming to lose three so close together, and hearing of other possible departures just adds fuel to the fire. Maybe it is as simple as the young men are homesick, or afraid of the depth chart. That's possible. It's also possible the coaches screwed up and did something to provoke the response. For the love of God, stop worshiping all things Butch and remember he's just a man.
Hopefully we bounce back from this quickly with no more defections, and hopefully Butch keeps this year's class together. I have to say, I honestly don't understand the Butch love or the Butch hate. I've been accused of the latter, but honestly, I'm just waiting for him to put together a body of work at UT. When that's in place, it'll speak for itself.
I don't want Coach Jones begging kids to stay. I believe they didn't like where they were in the pecking order and decided to leave. I wish them luck but we are recruiting talent and this is not a big deal.

I can tell you right now Scott would never be a feature back at tennessee.
