It doesn't seem to be a problem when Saban purges his roster for players that better fit his system.No. This isn't normal. It is a big problem. These aren't guys that are flunkies that we're just going to recruit over. Each one of these guys was considered a huge recruiting victory when we signed them. They all contributed in one way or another as freshmen. This needs to be fixed.
Bright side: will help in recruiting Phillips, Walker, RB targets, we want players who want to be here, we will have more available spots (not for 2015), better now than transferring out after lackluster couple of years
Negative side: fans will question Butch and staff, hate it for the kids transferring, could be a deeper issue
Reality: this is going to start happening when you are consistently recruiting at an ELITE LEVEL. It sucks, but it is part of the business (see: Alabama). Players will leave, get recruited over, or just not fit in, and Butch will keep bringing in JUST AS if not more talented players. Don't worry.
I'm with Coach Jones - as he said you are either a fountain or a drain. If they don't want to be here then we do not need them. I think Helm and Hendrix are making a mistake but move on. This is where elite talent is coming and if freshmen can't or aren't willing to compete they will have problems here or anywhere else. No worries because now there is more room for more elite talent.
Now the 'sky is falling' crowd can keep worrying but I am excited about this team for the first time in a long time.
How were they four of the best?

Hendrix is the best athlete from practice reports. Helm was in the two deep all season and made real contributions as a freshman. I'd say he was a key contributor. Scott would've been solid depth for next season when our running backs start getting injured. Henderson was a guy that dominated in the camps. He wasn't ready for big boy football, but I'd say he has as much potential as anyone.
