and some bad things…..
- The defense played very well. When we tackled, their backs and receivers went backwards. Our D-line controlled the line of scrimmage. Numerous tackles at the line of scrimmage and in the backfield. The linebackers and secondary were superlative with several pass breakups and physical tackling.
- The run game surprised me. It was very good. Give credit to the run game scheme. The offensive line was dominant, consistently opening holes the entire evening. We had two backs who ran for over 100 yds!
- The kicking game was solid. Kudos!
- The receivers were so-so. One specific receiver needs to get with it. He dropped balls in practice as well.
- Quarterback.. I was VERY disappointed in what I saw last night. I’ve never seen a UT quarterback continually stand in the pocket for 6 seconds like a statue, staring down a receiver, and then miss the throw….(Kudos to the OLine for giving that amount of time). Milton regressed during the game.
- When Pitt and SEC schools come to town, Milton will be on his butt a lot. He’s not a gamer. He’s not an efficient passer. He‘s not an accurate passer on deep balls. (Several misses) He’s an average runner at best. He has a very bad habit of holding the ball at his waist, and it bit him last night when he fumbled. His touchdown throw was lucky. Tillman had to make a great play to catch a pass that was covered.
- I kept thinking back on Bailey’s performance in the spring game and wished he had at least gotten to play some.
