Saquon Barkley is the best RB I've ever seen

Sanders and Payton ran behind all-pro and HOF-laden OLs? Do what? Much of Payton’s career he played for awful Bears teams and Sanders typically led the league in runs resulting in lost yardage because he was routinely having to dodge defenders in his offensive backfield as soon as he got a handoff.

Perhaps you’re right and you can document and substantiate your claim here with specific players and data. But, I recall both of those incredible HOF running backs more often than not making chicken salad out of chicken ish when they got the ball.

Check the batteries in your sarcasm detector. I was replying to the comment about excusing Barkley's less than stellar performance being blamed on a poor OL.

Those backs I specifically mentioned BECAUSE they had little help, Sanders his entire career and Payton most of his career.

They still had the numbers, even though they were often dodging tacklers before they were even handed the ball.

I thought my lead in was enough of an indicator. My apologies.

I thought the same thing when I first read that post. I just looked it up:

Barry Sanders played with no other Hall-of-Famers, not just on the offensive line, but period.

Payton played with 4 other HOFers at various times, but they all played defense.

Lomas Brown was a very good lineman and Kevin Glover was a fine center. That said all anyone needs to do is hop over to youtube and see how many of Sanders great runs were predicated on making people miss at or even behind the line of scrimmage.

Let's be honest, Barry's line wasn't the greatest, but he was often dodging tackles in the backfield because he liked to improvise instead of following the play the way it's drawn up.

I recall it in a distinctly different way. He had to improvise to keep from being tackled for a loss about every other carry.

It's both and if you think it's every other carry, then that shows how faulty memory can be.

There are several runs here that he breaks by not following a hole that indeed was there, but he was able to cut it outside for a bigger gain...that didn't always work.

Little bit of hyperbole there chief.

And if you’re trying to sell that Sanders ran behind a very good OL but rather than hit the hole he routinely chose to go off script and just freelance??.....right back at ya on the faulty memory deal.

Lol! THAT’s your proof that he just didn’t run through all the cavernous holes his all-world OL consistently provided??

Again....LOL!

Did you read what I said? 'Cause I didn't say his line was good.

It's proof that he didn't follow holes when they existed. I never said he had great blocking. Stop making **** up.

Been saying this for months now. That boy is simply special. He's worlds better than Ezekiel Elliott and Leonard Fournette who came out in recent years. And I have to say he's better than Adrian Peterson and LaDanian Tomlinson as well (who were the best RBs I've ever saw before Saquon Barkley).

Now obviously I didn't see the likes of Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, and Jim Brown play so I can't call Saquon Barkley the greatest of all time. But he is clearly the best RB I've seen since the year 2000/2001 when I started watching football regularly.

Bo Jackson is the best ever. This coming from an Alabama fan. You are much too young. It's OK though.

LOL. More like Le'Veon Bell is the floor for Saquon Barkley. His ceiling is something we have never seen before. A glitch in the matrix.

My vote is for Herschel Walker. But Bo was one bad dude.

Got to meet Bo on a USO tour through Kuwait back in 2004 and pull security for him while he signed autographs and did pics. He is still a large man to say the least. Great guy though and good for the troops out there.

Marcus Dupree was absolutely THE baddest dude carrying the football I ever saw in person OR on film..But Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson, Barry Sanders and Jim Brown dominated in their respective eras as well..Every fan has their own personal favorite and no one is really wrong, just different..

However, Barkeley is NOT the GOAT and actually doesn't even come close to the names I mentioned above..PERIOD.....

Future of the RB position in the NFL (along with Saquon)

I just love watching Alvin Kamara run. He's poetry in motion. Just like Saquon Barkley. They are the two most beautiful runners in recent memory.

Can't wait to watch them dominate the NFL.

I only judge players I have seen play. And I judge them based on talent not production or hype in college. And based on what I've seen in both college and the NFL, I would rate the top RBs since 1999 in this order:

1. Saquon Barkley

***wide margin***

2. Adrian Peterson
3. Marshall Faulk
4. LaDanian Tomlinson
5. Alvin Kamara

Reggie Bush >>>>> all of them

Is that video an example of “tape” that you watch?
