I gave the kid the benefit of doubt at first, but, right now, he's exhibiting a complete lack of any kind of sense and he needs to be elsewhere.

Vol nation is so judgmental this kid made stupid mistakes but I still wish the best for him… I just hate how grown adults get on here and call kids dummies and all other types of names and act as if they never made mistakes… did the kid make dumb decisions absolutely and he deserves to be kicked off but some of y’all go way too far with the insults…

Agreed…I’m glad he’s gone…and based on his behavior here I don’t expect him to go somewhere else and succeed…the kid is in for a rude awakening at some point IMO

They signed the top overall QB this class, brought in a transfer Riley recruited out of high school, and are fixing to get another 5 star QB commit next month. He'd never see the field in Norman.

How many chances do you think he "deserves"? He has made multiple mistakes....any one of which would have gotten a normal student in serious trouble. Stupid mistakes or not, there is a definite pattern of immature self-destructive action. He is very mercenary, has ZERO respect for rules, law, conditional reinstatement..etc. If this was the actions of a similar player on another team, you would not hesitate to bring out the "their player are trash" laugh 'em up statements. I do hope he learns his lesson and makes something of himself. Just not on our team.

Coach really had no other choice. Had to be dismissed or you lose your locker room before the season begins.

Feels weird this being my first ever post, but oh well - I pretty much agree with you, but just wanted to give an FYI for the board that there is some gray area on the illegality of marijuana in TN. As long as it’s under a certain % to CBD, you can absolutely legally purchase THC in the state. Though not cheap and not saying I do this but, I can drive two miles to this TN based chain store in 12 South and legally purchase ~100mg of THC for ~$90 legally. Maybe Knoxville is making it illegal, but it’s not necessarily illegal to purchase/possess it in our state.

**Just for clarity, I’m a UGA alum that hopefully by my avatar shows I have a connection and I don’t hate UT. Wife and I love Knoxville and hope to move there once medical schooling/residency/fellowships are finished, and I can do my part to help Jig & Reel and Clancy‘s pay their bills for years to come. I won’t post much because this is your home, but when I do it’ll never be to troll or be a negative to what is a very well run site/board.

I hope he’s only a couple of years from being one of those kids everyone is relieved eventually matured enough to be lauded as a late bloomer who, once the light bulb clicked on, became a respected, hardworking athlete and a good student, too.

Obviously he came into Knoxville just way too immature and under-prepared/under-advised for handling life as a college student — so much so that, perhaps, the best thing that could have happened to him is the very thing that Heupel likely HATED to have to do: let him go.

But, as many of us oldsters know, sometimes it takes facing hurtful consequences for our actions to start us thinking that maybe we should get a little more serious about our futures.

So, I’m going to be 100% happy if Salter gets his act together and becomes a huge, mature success elsewhere, because the bottom line for me, ALWAYS, is that these troubled kids eventually find the best situation for them to be successful, respected members of society.

Good luck, young man. Turn yourself around. You can do it!
