Ryan Childress

Ultimately, the cornerstone to CBP's philosophy on basketball is this: put it up before you give it up. If (and only if) Childress has a wide-open look from 3, why not take the shot? Same with Chism, who knocked down a clutch 3 in OT today. Plus, if other teams have to come out on the perimeter to guard Chism and Childress when they're lurking out there, more penetration opportunites are created for Ramar, Lofton, et al.

I have to agree with the posters who think Childress shouldn't be taking the three at will. I feel that he has played much better this year but it is still painful for me to watch him jack it up from behind the line. Childress is WAY MORE EFFECTIVE DOWN LOW! That being said, Chism also has an ugly shot from outside. If left completely open with nobody even attemting to guard them from outside, I say shoot it. But, it needs to be a set shot and not rushed at all. JMO. But, they pay CBP to make those decisions and I doubt he needs my advice right now.:)

Chism has been great at the 3 line all year. I dont care how big a guy is, if he can shoot let him shoot it.

I'd say TH had more good than bad games no?

Ah, good ol' Tony Harris. Imagine what someone like CBP could have done with that kind of raw talent. He still, to this day, was the quickest player with the ball I've seen in a Tennessee uniform, and a good shooter... unfortunately offset by trying ridiculous, ill-advised shots and poor ballhandling; not to mention the thug mentality that was characteristic of the Jerry Green years. Kind of a sad story, really; he could have been a poor man's Allen Iverson in the NBA with the right guidance and coaching.

More like a poor man's Eddie House.

I don't quite understand the offensive scheme with Childress out past the top of the key. We look lost, and are liable to settle for a 3-point shot from a sub-par shooter as time runs down.

I'm guessing Pearl will address this point.

Not taking anything away from a killer win at the Tommy, just a little point to build on as we enter the SEC meat.

Childress can hit the three, so I really don't care to see him shot 1 or 2, especially if he finds himself wide open. If he misses those badly, however, then I think that should be enough for the day from behind the arc. Go use your energy to bang inside.

i'm thrilled about the win. i just dont think a 6-9, 2 star forward shooting 22% from the 3 point line should be putting it up. there were 8000 people in nashville monday telling him not to shoot it.

Good thing about that is hopefully he only listens to CBP and does what he says.
