Running the table?

You know how Tennessee has lost a few games we should have won in years past, South Carolina a few years ago, to mention one, could the Georgia game be the one game we lose, did we get it behind us as a team, and go for it all?

MS St on the road wont be easy. I could see this team going the distance but I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped 2 to 3 more games. Defense isnt consistent enough and offense still has a tendency to disappear for long stretches.

There's a chance for sure but we desperately need a couple of those defensive starters back otherwise we're looking at shootouts for most of those games (might even be looking at that regardless).

It could be. We could go 11-1.

But we could go 9-3, too. Or 10-2. Or even 8-4 (though I'm almost ready to take that one off the table).

Every single season from now on, as long as Josh Heupel is our head coach, our floor each season will be 8-4 and our ceiling 12-0....until it isn't.

Well, we've now lost the 12-0 top end, but everything else in that range remains open.

Go Vols!

I want to see more from teams around the league and what they look like 4-6 weeks into the season. How does bama look against UGA? Sooners against the Barn? Will UF have an interim coach when we see them 11/22? And of course, UT going on the road against the cowbell dinger goobers in Starkville. 9-3 seemed like a reasonable prediction going into the year, however, this team has the potential to beat all of the opponents remaining. I think we win 2 out of 3 against UF, bama, and OK with the tide being the loss on the road. Heupel's offense is the real deal.

Most honest fans and media predicted us 8-9 wins. I think that's what will happen . ,9-3 would be good season. 10-2 would be great
10-2 and 9-3 can be the difference of a playoff berth and a chance to play for a National Championship. I just hope this Georgia game does not come back to haunt us. To lose a game you should have won and where your QB and offense played great.

Unfortunately, there will most likely be a bad day or days at the office somewhere on our schedule.

Usually the magic season comes down to some luck at some point ( Stoerner fumble "98). We were not lucky in that Georgia game. That 4th and 6 TD pass by Georgia late in the game was very lucky for them maybe even more so than the missed FG.

We made the playoffs last year and the Georgia game proved we could be a contender for the playoffs again this year. Just hope we can get that opportunity and don't look back at this game with contempt.

A lot more on the schedule than Alabama. A win against Oklahoma may end up being worth a lot more if they continue to perform. A win against Vanderbilt (yes, Vanderbilt) may also end up being worth a lot more if they continue to perform. Maybe more if other teams also continue to play well.

That said, if Tennessee wants to be in the playoffs, then they have to win every game from here on out. 10-2 guarantees nothing. Just puts you in the mix to be picked.

It starts with Mississippi State in two weeks, who'll almost certainly be 4-0, undefeated, playing at home, and looking to make a statement against the Vols in Starkville. Heupel's strugglebus games have always come on the road. I wouldn't for one second be looking past that game in Starkville. Not for one second.
In the SEC you had better not look past any games,

Never sleep on the Gators. I can’t remember the last time we beat them in the Swamp. That’s another game that worries me
2003....Casey Clausen was our QB. Pitiful

Anybody that puts that game in the win column before it's played is nuts.....Hell, 2 years ago Florida finished 5-7 and missed a bowl, but still beat our asses in Gainesville.

SORRY!! Winning out is out of the question from what I saw Sat. That is if we keep the same "playing performance" as we followed against Ga. A shame too, this team, had the "foot stayed on the metal," could have made Ga. look nearly average. I think we were that much better. It as a shame play calling determined the outcome.

Yep, seems there are more candidates this year than last for that. Miss St. Arky and Vanderbilt could all beat us. OU, Bama and UF are all going to be tough games. The offense should give us a chance to win any game left on the schedule. But the defense is gonna have to come on for us to have any shot at making the playoff.
And don't forget at Kentucky. It would be so TN for that to be the "no-show" head-scratching loss of the season.
