Running list of Tennessee targets planned commitment dates

Two things confusing me on this recruiting cycle.

1. Why don't we have more DL targets? Is Garner losing a step on the recruiting trail?

2. Why are we not pursuing higher rated secondary?

We have 3 DL committed and 2 more will be added by July 1st.

Good question on DB but I’m guessing they found some instate guys they like they think they could develop for a lower $ value so they allocated bigger money this cycle elsewhere?

When you say 3 committed, do you mean the edges? I'm talking about interior DL guys. I know we're trying to get Dereon Albert, and maybe already have him as a silent, no idea. Other than that, the only other DL I've seen that shows interest is Darryl Rivers. Of the edges you mentioned, I could see Groves being a SDE. Not sure how much growth the other two have. But we need a couple of more true big boys for the trenches, IMO. I'm just surprised Garner isn't in on more of those big guys or involved with some bigger names.


I miss the days of having a John Henderson and Albert Haynesworth lined up next to each other, beating down opposing OLs.

Yea I’d say of the 5 we will have by the 4th two will end up edges and 3 will grow into DL.

Matt Ray said the staff didn’t think the top of the Db class was worth what the top of the DB class is going to command so they elected to go this route. It doesn’t seem much different than the route they went last year other than the fact I think they’ve found some cheap raw athletic guys this go around. Outside of McCoy and Jordan Matthews and probably Gibson to some extent it just doesn’t seem like they have put a lot of money in that area. Of all the stuff related to our recruiting that’s probably the thing I really don’t understand or agree with. But no one offered me 9 million for my opinion either.

Are we still pursuing Javonte Smith? 247 shows him down to Arky and Mizzou.

Want Moa. From what I've read, he could be a two-way player.

Still think we need more beef on the DL. With the pace our offense can play, we need to be able to rotate up front on defense to keep the big guys fresh.

Any idea what our chances with Darius Grey are? Would really like to land him.

Have you heard anything about us flipping Hezekiah Harris from Auburn?

Ready for these kids to jump in the boat.

Other than hoping to flip Tristan Keys and Hezekiah Harris, are these all that we're targeting currently? Wondering if there are any under the radar guys?

Also assuming we may seem more targets emerge during the upcoming HS football season.

FYI, if we're actually interested in Jax Tanner, 3* IOL from Idaho, he's announcing on 7/12.

Recruiting:

QB - ✅
RB - waiting on Hiter's decision
WR - Need to flip Keys. Would love to get Moa, as well.
TE - ✅ (as long as Sneed stays committed)
IOL - Need to add Grey, or at least one more G/C.
OT - ✅

Edge - ✅
DL - ✅ (JMO, but I'd like to see one more beast, but I could also see there being a plan to get more game ready options from the portal)
LB - ✅✅ (Best recruited position group this cycle, IMO.)
CB - ✅ (Check, I guess, though it seems like projects. Not sure there's a true impact guy there.)
S - ✅ (Also projects. But projects I like better.)

Any idea when we might get another commit? The recruiting board is getting smaller and smaller. As far as I can tell the current board appears to be Hiter, Gray, Wyatt, Moa, and flip candidates Keys, Harris, and possibly Givens.

Hiter in August feels like next opportunity unless Wyatt or Gray decide to go into final decision mode.

There is a few other names like Brody Smith and also add Blair to the flip candidate longterm.

Probably not going to see any new names until mid September once the first month of high school senior film starts to circulate
