RPI Discussion.

I do, especially when you look at SOS

They'd have 3 top 50 wins, we would have 4
They'd have 1 bad loss, we would have 2

Our expected SOS is 25, theirs is 79.

We beat them if you need a tiebreaker.

right now, xavier and virginia are the only wins against the rpi top 50 for tennessee.

arkansas has 4. kentucky, kentucky, smu, and minnesota.

Like I said, if we and they win out, which is what my original post said which you said I was wrong about...

If we win out and they win out, we will have the same number of top 50 wins :hi:

Is the RPI really used as a guide of teams to draw for when deciding to vote? Is that really why the RPI is so important? For instance, they use 1- 8 for the first round then add the 9 - 12, 13 - 16, etc?

IF that's the case, then we wouldn't be brought in the discussion until the 12th round according to the realtimeRPI site.

Huh? Are you asking if they use the RPI to determine seeding in the NCAAT?

Sort of yes.. but rather randomly guessing which teams SHOULD be next in the voting process, they use the RPI.

Mizzou has a better RPI than us right now, so they would be considered in the tourney before our name is brought up.

LSU and Arky has to be mentioned After we are already in the 8 team pool.

No that's not how it works.

RPI is used as a general reference and guide, but it's not strictly followed as seeding goes, or higher rated in.

If they took the highest rated RPI teams and filled it that way only the top 45 or so RPI teams would get in.

When TN is in the same voting pool than Mizzou, LSU, and Arky, than it will be bad for us. That would be 4 sec teams and 4 randoms.

That would mean they passed up Mizzou and TN at least once.

That's only if no team gets continously passed. Mizzou could be that team that's always in the voting pool of 8 but never gets a bid.
