RPI Discussion.

We are a bubble team because, we win a game or two and lose a game or two. The only consistency is our inconsistence play which equals a team on the bubble.

If this team wants in that'll have to change. 5 of their remaining 7 games are against pretty bad teams, they'll have to win everyone of those, plus 1 of the Missouri games.

Ole Miss loses at Bama, really gonna come down to Tennessee and Missouri, Saturday is huge.

Xavier won at butler tonight as well, nice to see they're back on track.

Ole Miss losing at Bama is a bad loss. Now they have their toughest part of their schedule coming up. It's UT's or Mizzou's to lose IMO. Mizzou has some bad losses just like UT. If we can win Sat, I think we make the tourney. If we lose, who the hell knows.

We can win out and we are still a bubble team. The closer it gets the thinner that bubble gets. Tennessee has a terrible resume'. A win against Virginia. That's it. A loss to UTEP, Loss to Kentucky, 2 losses to Florida ( one a bad blowout), loss to Vandy, loss to Texas A&M on our home floor. Just do not see it happening after the last 2 years. Martin's most talented team should not even be having this discussion. Next coach up ( whoever it is).

ShowSomePride , you have some major cojones to bet that kind of money on a Martin team ( after seeing his coaching ). I thought they would make it too, and I hope you win. I am just frustrated. We had the talent and despite Hubb's injury we should not be on the bubble.

At least 2 more losses before the Sec tourney. At Missouri, and you know there will be at least 1 more no show on the road(Auburn,Miss St, or A&M). Another early round exit from the SEC tourney and that puts UT at 12 losses with only the Virginia win to hang their hat on. Get those black curtains ready.......

Agree completely. I think unless this teams runs the table in regular season, which is highly unlikely based on past performance, they will probably need at least a semifinals run in SEC tourney. Their resume just isn't strong enough. It's like the same broken record every year with this team under CCM. Mizzou win is a must at this point.

Agree. They have to run the table!

You're verifiably wrong about quite a few things. First of all, straight from Lunardi's mouth, we are not a bubble team right now. Not even last four in, but above that . Second, by the NCAA selection committee definitions, Xavier is a quality win for us right now at #45, so Virginia is not the only good when we have. Third, UTEP is top 100, 18-6, and will win the rest of its games and finish 25-6 barring a loss at southern miss, which would make it a tournament team, not an NCAA bad loss.

I agree with BTO that we have small margin for error at the moment, but your poor grasp of facts cannot be ignored here.

All projections will change drastically after Saturday's loss.
Currently sitting behind Missouri in RPI. the gap will widen and we'll be in the 50s.
Those are the facts.

You can't really claim them as facts if they haven't happened yet.

Lunardi was not even close to right the last two years ( on the Vols ) at this point of the season, or at the end of the season either. I stand by what I said. We will see who is right. I am man enough to admit when I am wrong and will do so if proven so later. Lunardi gets to keep on predicting as long as he is right most of the time. He does not have to be right on Tennessee.

If we lose Saturday, I think we have to win out. We could probably have one other loss and still be praying for a gift, but it would be a long shot. In all honesty, if we lose at Missouri and one other game, we don't deserve to get in. A win in December against VA is really all we have-okay, splitting with Xavier may or may not end up top 50, but still…

Of course, win this Saturday, and the conversation shifts drastically.

No, just no.

Lunardi was 68/68 last year and had the vols out each of the last 2 years, wtf are you talking about?

What are the facts if we win, like we did at Bama or LSU?
Looking at the Physcy of this team.
Draining loss to FL.
On the road against a team it will take a similar effort.
Haven't seen the energy 2 games in a row since December.
Win, it's all good. Loss is devastating.
