As far as I know, it's up to the player and the school. Anything is possible, but I think it has become standard to expect it to be one year at a time, with the occasional exception.

Needs are PG, Center, and then two scoring wings

You could definitely make the argument we need PG, Center, and then only need one scoring wing along with a PF that could stretch the floor though.

10/15= 5 spots open

We had a full roster of 16 this past season, technically 15 is the limit but Hurst was allowed the year as an extra due to a single year waiver on roster cuts, he was a senior so back to 15 we go. We lose 3 seniors is Gillespie, Okpara and Abram, and for the purpose of this we are assuming Ament is headed to the NBA, if that changes I will obviously change this, but I don’t foresee that being the case with him widely mocked in the Top 10. So, losing 4/15 drops you to 11 returning players exiting the year and entering the portal season.

If we get anymore transfers they don’t need to be a senior unless they are top 10 IMO. We don’t need another Darlington, Abrams, or even our past graduate guys that end up playing less than 15 minutes a game.

With Washington committed already down to only 3 open spots. If Hill and Harris commit then we only have 1 open spot currently (I know Burg could still leave) for a true PG or another Center.

I would imagine they may have a serious conversation about asking the other walk-on to not be on scholarship. They’ll find a way to make the numbers work.

Tuition is negligible compared to other NIL deals. Nothing says we cant have them walk on and use “NIL” pay their way…haven’t be told that but a work around

I thought with the roster limits there is no such thing as a “walk-on” anymore. It’s 15 players on the roster and that’s it. No walk ons.

Previous walk-ons were grandfathered in as “Designated Student Athletes” that don’t count towards your 15, which is why our number is actually 16. Will be interesting to see if they issue a similar exemption status for 5th year players, should that be passed. Would be crazy to fill this 16 man roster out and still be able to bring back Gillespie and Okpara on 5th years. Talk about super team.

True. What I’m saying is that because we only had one DSA and we still have another former walk-on with a scholly right now, we could technically push that walk-on to the portal to free up one more slot if needed.
