Has Ethan Moore shown something in fall or summer that made you confident enough to put him as the starting 2B?

I would also throw Grimmer in the DH possibility if he’s not going to be starting.

This lineup looks like it’s going to be loaded.
Just a hunch based on what I’ve read. I could also see Abernathy, Antigua, or Newstrom at 2B. Obviously very fluid based on results of Fall Ball

Those last six cuts are going to be tough.... hate it but I guess this is how college baseball is going to work moving forward

This may have been asked before. Haas having surgery and medically redshirting, will he have to be a DSA? And will he have to be considered part of the 37 man roster?

Not sure if Haas will be considered a DSA or not. The DSA designation was due back on July 7th so I assume he will likely be a medical redshirt unless an exemption was granted by the Magistrate Judge for DSA status. If he’s not a DSA, my understanding is medical redshirts would count against the 34 man roster.

How out of the loop am I ? Coach V's Chattanooga press conference is the first Ive heard Amari Jefferson joined the team.
I took it as CTV was familiar with Baylor since he recruited Jefferson for baseball. I don’t think it ever materialized nor do I think something’s recently changed. I could be mistaken but believe Jefferson stuck to football.

Few things from this (I realize there’s a long way to go to opening day):
1. Seems like Levi has locked down 1B
2. Seems like Blanco has a leg up on a rotation spot
3. Antigua has a leg up at the moment at SS

Very interested to see how the next couple months play out

I don't subscribe to KNS. I don't recall hearing Manny's name mentioned during fall ball. Did Mike Wilson mention him in his recap?

Yes. Manny will be starting in the infield at SS, 3B, or 2B.

I’m thinking depth chart something along lines of:
1B Clark, Ford, Grimmer, Hankins
2B Marin, Bates, Antigua, Abernathy, Moore
SS Antigua, Marin
3B Ford, Grimmer, Myatt
RF Chapman, Brown, High
CF Abernathy, Wright, Chapman
LF Newstrom, Grimmer, Eisfelder
C Lawless, Wright, Grindlinger
DH Brown, Grimmer, Hankins, Myatt

PS it’s really hard leaving Grimmer out of the lineup. I’d rotate him at DH, 3B, LF, and maybe at 1B. Wright at C and OF. This lineup has tons of depth….

I can't leave Grimmer or Wright out. I have this:

C: Stone Lawless
1B: Levi Clark
2B: Chris Newstrom
SS: Ariel Antigua
3B: Henry Ford
LF: Blaine Brown
CF: Garrett Wright
RF: Reese Chapman
DH: Blake Grimmer

But this leaves Marin and Abernathy out. This is tough to piece together without leaving a deserving starter out. We are gonna be loaded.

Great lineup as well. Have loads of depth. Expect to see lots of different lineups in non conference play…

Eric Cain on the VQ podcast this morning, went with:

Wright-C
Clark-1B
Marin-2B
Antigua-SS
Ford-3B
Newstrom-LF
Abernathy-CF
Chapman-RF
Brown-DH

So basically, what you have, except Wright over Lawless at C.

He also lamented the omission of Grimmer. Just hard to leave that guy out of the lineup.

I don't see any way Marin gets left out of the starting lineup after playing in almost every game last year. (IMO)

Based on what a lot of guys who've been around in the fall are saying, Grimmer is definitely one of our best nine bats, maybe even top five.

The X-Factor in all of this is Chapman. Has he truly taken that next step? The same question applies to Antigua: Can he consistently hit enough to justify his spot in the lineup?

Glad I don't have to make these decisions!

You sort of answered your own question. If Marin is left out, it’s because there are so many guys who deserve to start. He may not be left out, though. These are difficult choices.

What about this lineup, but Marin at SS instead of Antigua, and Grimmer at 2B?

If Antigua can't get his avg up at least 50 points, I just don't see how you can justify a starting spot over some of those other guys.

Cain and McKee know TN baseball better than almost anyone. My only thing with Garrett Wright is he’s going to have to get used to SEC quality pitching. I suspect the MAC is similar to the midweek pitching TN crushes. With that said, Wright seems to be an elite defensive C who can also play CF at an extremely high level. He can flat out fly running the bases. (I did a double take watching him almost beat out a routine grounder to 3B this Fall). He’s had Summer and Fall to face UT’s pitching so he might be a quick study at the plate.

PS. I see Marin and Abernathy as everyday starters unless there’s an injury or huge slump. Marin is draft eligible next Summer and Abernathy just has too many tools and is too versatile to sit on the bench IMHO. The X factor is if Antigua has improved at the plate and in the field. Being healthy this Fall has helped Antigua show what he’s capable of at the plate….

I know Ariel Antigua has paid his dues and once again has had an impressive Fall, I just don't see him consistently in this lineup with all of the talent we have. Putting him in and sitting guys like Grimmer, Newstrom, Brown, Myatt, - I just don't see it. The only way I see AA getting in the lineup is if we sit Chapman for Ford in the outfield and Manny plays 3rd.
