Robert Hubbs

Exactly. Most SEC schools are thin at one position or another. LSU is giving a guy who wasn't playing organized basketball a few years a go and was on a tuba scholarship significant minutes at center. South Carolina's best post player is a 6'5" lightly-recruited freshman. Kentucky is giving Jarrod Polson good minutes at point guard.

Missouri could make a run but I dont think they will.

Sorry for the lack of knowledge here, but does anyone know with our recent struggles if this kid may de commit? I don't know if he is for sure a lock or if he is all Vol. Again sorry for the lack of info but I never look through the basketball pages.

Signed sealed delivered he's ours.

He is signed, and few losses wouldn't have made a difference if he weren't.

Hubbs will fit really nicely into the rotation next year...we need another scorer on the perimiter to go along with McRae and Richardson. Still not sure what is going to happen with the PG position but my best guess for next year is this.

1-Golden/Landry
2-Hubbs/Richardson
3-McRae/Moore
4-Maymon/Edwards
5-Stokes/Yemi

That is an elite starting line up talent wise...i know Golden not being a true PG hurts, but that is 4 big time players for him to get the ball to.

Our bench still worries me, but some of these guys seem to be coming along.

Next year is an all or nothing year for Martin.

That's why you'll probably see Hubbs come off the bench to start the season. Richardson is proven offense and defense. Hubbs would flourish being the sixth man and being able to make the offense run through him. Edwards won't get all those back up minutes. AJ and Reese will get some probably before Edwards. Either way we have a good problem on our hands at every spot but the PG.

Then how many title-contending teams are there in the NCAA? Probably zero as well.

Sorry, the SEC is a joke. If you think Fla is a title contender by blowing out horrible SEC teams then you're in for a rude awakening. What is Fla's best wins? Way back in Nov against Wisconsin and Marquette.

Could Fla make the Final 4? Sure they could. Upsets happen and the bracket may just fall their way, but I'd say that loss to Ark throws up some red flags. They were never in that game.

I can honestly see him being very similar to D Wade, with a better 3 pt shot

I also see the similarity a lot. I even mad a thread about it a while ago. It will be a nice battle between Richardson, McRae, and Hubbs. I can't wait to see Hubbs play next year though!

Disagree here OB. Every team has those games where nothing goes right.

Remember that if Florida doesn't mail in the last 2 minutes of that Arizona game (on the road, too), that's their best win. I know, I know, I'm going purely off hypotheticals, so you don't have to agree. But I watched that game. Florida was, and in my opinion IS significantly better than Arizona. And Arizona has been in the top 10 most of the year.

The Wisconsin and Marquette wins are also very underrated in my opinion. Those, like most of their SEC games were absolute blowouts. Wisconsin won at Indiana and beat Michigan, lost to Florida by 18. Marquette sits atop the Big East right now; Florida beat them 82-49. They made Missouri look like a high school team, crushing them wire to wire to the tune of 83-52. They also beat Mississippi comfortably.

Florida is one of the best teams in the country. I've honestly thought that all year. We'll see how they look against a quickly improving Kentucky team on Tuesday.

And yet, they got ran off the court against Ark who is a marginal team. Those type of games throw up red flags when you look back and see who wins it all. Teams that win it all rarely get drubbed during the season, and if they do, it's against a good team and not a marginal team.

I just think the SEC being so down this year isn't going to do any favors for Fla, Ky and Mizzou who I think have the best chance at getting at least to the Sweet 16.

Although Florida got destroyed at Arkansas last week, I still believe they are an Elite 8 team. Well-balanced team. I hate them, but they are the class of the SEC.

Okay? The ACC is weak this year as well. Duke just squeaked out a road win on a questionable call against a PATHETIC Boston College and got embarrassed by Miami. Miami lost to FGCU and Indiana State earlier in the year (I know Indiana State isn't a "bad" loss, but title-contending teams don't lose to teams like those). Indiana has had their fair share of struggles against mediocre teams (losing to Wisconsin at home, choke job against Illinois). Michigan isn't unbeatable, obviously. Arizona... Well, we know the story there. Gonzaga will flame out fairly early in the tournament like they usually do. Syracuse and Louisville... Meh. Kansas is struggling big time in a weak Big 12.

If you pick apart every team's resume this season, then no one is a title contender. Florida is far from perfect (post depth is thin), but if we're not a title contender, then there aren't any true title contenders this season. Someone has to win it all.

And Arkansas is truly a different team at Arkansas than they are anywhere else. We'll beat them by 30 at our place.

Ehhhhh. Blowout or not, it's still just one game. Anything can happen in one game. Like I said, every team has that game where they just can't do anything right.

Besides, at home Arkansas isn't a marginal team. They are capable of beating anyone there.

What is worst loss by eventual NCAA basketball champ? | John Clay's Sidelines

As you can see, it wouldn't be the worst loss ever by an eventual champ. As a matter of fact, it wouldn't be close. Hell, just two years ago Uconn lost at St. John's by 17.

Florida is a contender. Fact.

I definitely agree with this. After playing so many ****ty teams, I could see Florida almost 'forgetting' what it's like to play a real team, if that makes sense. They could get complacent. But with Billy Donovan for a coach, I wouldn't bet on it.
