Robert Hubbs

I hate to say it folks, but Hubbs will fall victim under Martin just like that headband wearing tulip Stokes has. Hes soft, lazy and plays like a little girl. Does he play and act like a 5 star recruit?! Hell, Martin doesnt even deserve a player of Hubbs' caliber..he wont know what to do with it.

Guarantee you wouldn't call Stokes soft to his face! He's far from soft. Soft is what your gf or wife deals with at night, not Stokes lol.

lol Good one. Come on, you guys really think hes a beast and plays like a MAN WITH AUTHORITY? Im sorry, this guy is soft and does not play or act like a 5 star recruit. Hed rather lay it in then go up hard for the jam. Fix that headband Stokes!

All Im saying is that he is an underachiever. Im not sure if its him or being coached by that clown.

Am I dissapointed, yea sure. However, he very likely may end up finishing the year averaging 14ppg and 10rpg...not like the guy sucks.

He's double and triple teamed EVERYTIME he touches the ball, to still average a double double on the year is pretty impressive.

I hear ya man. Dont get me wrong, I love Stokes and am glad hes a Vol. I guess all the hoopla that followed him raised my expectation level. Ok, you said hes avg 14 ppg for 7 games. HE SHOULD BE AVG THAT IF NOT MORE THE WHOLE SEASON. That is what 5 star recruits do...in their FRESHMAN year! I personally think hes a bit soft. Hed rather that headband look cool and cute than than worry about his play. Worst free-throw shooter too...frustrating.

He's not soft. He is just inconsistent with his effort. When he plays to his potential he's a force out there. He couldn't be stopped in the second half on Wednesday. Some ridiculous offensive boards and and ones. He also shot really well from the FT line. He's definitely made some strides the past couple of games.

8-10 from the free-throw line is really not good enough for a post player.

Stokes probably averages around 50% from the FT line normally and that's missing alot of front ends of one and ones. It was a good night for him at the line. Just the fact that he had 10 attempts was good to see.

No question that he has struggled at the free-throw line, but he has improved in recent games. Stokes play for the last 4-5 games is as good as we can expect, considering this team's obvious short-comings.

1. No that's not what I said...I said he's averaging 15.7ppg over his last 7.

2. How many 5 star freshman in the SEC are averaging 15.7+PPG...I'll wait.

Yeah, he's such an underachiever that he has eight double-doubles this year. Second in the entire SEC only to Murphy Holloway of Ole Miss who has nine. He's doing that with no true point guard or wings that know how to feed the post.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I bet you don't watch a lot of basketball.

Wrong, I watch plenty of basketball. Last year, he played like the stud he was supposed to be..absolutely. But, this year, hes regressed. He is a beast, no doubt. But, he doesnt PLAY like a beast all the time. Im just frustrated and disappointed in this whole team and its because I love this team so much. I know they are ALL better than this. People saying we dont have the talent...I think thats BS. We have top 25 talent on this team. I find it inexcusable that we arent even in the top 70 right now. That reflects on Martin. Its not working!

WE DON'T HAVE PG get that through your head. You said Stokes was a soft, then you just said he was a beast...which was it?

His FRAME and build is like a beast. He just doesnt PLAY like a beast. I never said anything about not having a PG right now. I simply am saying that I think Golden plays soft and is another underachiever. Got it now?

So his averages of 9.6 pts and 7.4 rebs last year qualify him as a "stud" (your words, not mine)?

However, 12 pts and 8.5 rebs this year, while facing constant double and triple teams makes him a soft cream puff?

Ok. Got it.

Coming in and avg about 10 ppg is about what I wanted and expected of him! He did what he was supposed to. He came in and made an impact. THIS year, it seems as if hes gotten worse and forgotten how to play like the stud he is. Sorry, for a player of his caliber, he should be avg 17-20 pts a game without breaking a sweat.

As I said, you don't watch a lot of basketball. If you do, you don't understand it.

Stokes had Maymon to help him out last year. He also had a healthy Golden. This year he doesn't have either. He still has no true PG. The offense went through Maymon last year. Martin has failed to adjust. No one is happy with the results so far, but people who know and follow basketball understand why the team is struggling. Should it be struggling this much? Probably not, but the UGA loss was the only loss that people thought they should've won because it was at home. Without Golden, it made the game much more tougher.

If the team is still struggling with a healthy Maymon and Golden and also with Hubbs on the court next year, I'd say next year will be Martin's last year.

Do you read what your posting? How is 12 and 8.5 worse than 9.6 and 7.4? Under worse circumstances no less?

You, like so many other novice fans, put unrealistic expectations on all these high-level players. You probably hated Hopson too, even though he averaged 17 ppg his junior year, and you'll criticize Hubbs next year for only averaging 8-10 ppg too because he didn't meet your expectations, which are outrageous.

I hear ya man, agreed. Ill lay off and consider all of the obstacles hes facing. Ill give him the benefit of the doubt and grant him one more year, as painful as it is lol

You're damn right I hated Hopson! Now theres a tulip for ya...prime example..the worst of the worst! That underachieving idiot got exactly what he deserved when he thought he was too good for UT and college bball and bolted early. Can you honestly sit here and say he wasnt somewhat of an underachiever and soft?? Be honest with yourself lol

Yep, I do demand more of high 5 star caliber players. Thats why they get the rating right? So, fans like us, can judge and gauge their performances. Well, Stokes hasnt lived up to his hype. I solely blame this on Martin.

Is there really a reason to call him an idiot? He never got into any trouble while at UT. Yes, he was soft at times, but that doesn't make him an idiot.

My main gripe with Stokes is his intensity. He's not always as intense as he should be. When he is intense he usually does well. That's a maturity thing IMO. He's a sophomore but realistically he's only a freshman age wise. He's still a young pup. With Maymon back next year, he should really elevate his game.

Thank you Orangeballs, at least you gave me THAT on him being somewhat soft lol I called him an idiot because he knew he wasnt good enough to leave for the NBA and needed another year of grooming, thats all. Great kid with a big heart, no doubt. He was our best player. I just wanted more from him.
