I have to admit, for a brief moment, I was Joe fan. VOLS football has had many low points in the last few years. September was a train wreck. Just when you thought (Brady Hoke games) it couldn't get worse, the season started on on the same track it was on.
Fast forward to today. Do we have a recruiting class the caliber of Bama, LSU, Georgia? Not exactly, but I think this staff, if it stays intact, CAN coach this group up into a pretty good team. Rich get richer in this world and there is a threshold you have to get over to really get elite. It took a lot of years for the VOLS to deteriorate, and it'll take time to get it back to what we all want. This class is a stepping stone in that direction. If you were impressed by last years recruits, you should be happy about this bunch. We just might have a whole new flock of To'tot'os that can play with passion and get us back to where we need to be. 1 year from now, let's just see what this staff can recruit. I think you will see some really good results. Just my 2 cents.
Just noted a couple of difference in ratings between Rivals & 247. I’ll
Check some of the others later. Rivals has HB as our No 1 recruit, 247 has him at 4th. Rivals has Whitehead at 18 out of 23 recruits, 247 has him at # 5. I just find it amusing. Recruiting rankings can be a source of hope for a program but you have to look at each recruit and how they fill the position needs to determine the real value of a recruiting class. To complain how we finish compared to the Florida’s, Georgia’s , etc is just silly. As long as we stay close we are in good shape. Player development and in-game coaching have as much value as the recruits we sign.
No. Not right now.
Fun fact is teams like Georgia, Bama, Ohio State, Clemson have recruits ratings adjusted when they offer and more so when they commit to them. It makes sense for a recruiting service to bump these kids bc these programs have a history of developing kids and sending them to the league. A few years ago Clemson didn’t get that bump as much. Tennessee still needs success on the field to get into that top group. Top five to seven is pretty much usually going to include in some orderBama, Ohio State, Clemson, LSU, Georgia, Oklahoma.
I like this class as #4 in SEC behind Bama, LSU and GA. JMHO..and we still have 3 more open slots. That's with 22 committed.
We may very well pull off a top 10 class guys. More importantly, CJP absolutely killed it at filling in the holes in our roster at WR...LB...DB...and RB.
Couple of good 4 star surprises today.
We are on the way BACK TO THE TOP!!!
GO VOLS!!! WGWTFA!!
Edit:
Up to 9th now with Joseph as 23rd!!! Thanks Freak for updating title.
Who do yall think the 3 big fish might be?
Who will be the standout from this class?
FYPI agree, stay close and we are doing that, I just looked at Clemson recruiting since dabo 09 was 37th
10 was 19th, 11 was 8th, 12 was 14th, 13 was 14th, 14, was 13th, 15 was 4th, 16 was 6th, 17 was 22nd, 18 was 8, and 19 was 5th. They have done pretty well, measure the first 3 years he was there ut is ahead of us.I would take Clemson’s Conference. Good coaching can take some 3 and 4 star recruits and play with anyone, especially if you have some great performers in skilled positions. And we have several 4 stars, which can compete with 5 stars with good coaching. I think we have a great coaching staff who will coach them up to be competitive. And also look at okl. their recruiting classes do not come near what a lot of the other top 10 schools are doing and they are successful. Look everyone can't win nc. I am happy to be in the top ten and also be able to compete with anyone and occasionaly be in the playoffs and win sec every few years.
