Yes, a rivalry game. These two in-state opponents have played each other 88 times, first meeting in 1896.

They played each other annually from 1946 until 2014, when this yearly series ended…following the Big Ten’s additions of Rutgers and Maryland, the Big East’s dissolution as a football conference, and Notre Dame’s adopting a 5-ACC-opponent-each-year schedule as part of a trade off for the ACC housing all the Irish’s non-football sports.

It is quite a one-sided rivalry though, as Notre Dame leads the series 58-26-2 (the last time Purdue won was 2007).

It’s a trophy game though, and the winner gets the Shillelagh Trophy

Purdue gets stopped at the Notre Dane 8 and has to settle for a 25 yard FG to make it 28-13 Irish with 1:45 left to play in the first half.

But then Notre Dame fumbles at its on 19 following a sack, with Purdue recovering.

The game is now in delay, however, though.

Way too many words in each "game" post. In all 10 of them you made. Lol

Purdue is better than they were last season but still has a ton of work to do to be competitive in B1G. Odom was a good hire and will get them much better.
