RIP Heath Ledger

Yeah but I heard he locked himself in a hotel room without any contact to mentally prepare himself for the role.

If preparing himself for playing the Joker is a factor in this, then Jack would have been dead long before the first Batman. Have you ever seen The Shining?? Blaming it on the movie preparation is asinine at this point.

I heard he is dead at 28 or so. Anyone else? What's up with that?

I will now edit:

I am an unaware of modern pop culture happenings (mostly because I dont give a fat rat's @#$)therefore did not know of this thread. Thanks to the Mod who merged it.

Sorry about the aussie who od'ed for those of you that do. "Knight's Tale" was weird.

Tragic for his young daughter and family. Far too young to pass away.

A very general and expected statement from the family.

Did you read the whole thing?

The police had some interesting things.

Heath had been quoted saying he couldn't sleep after doing the Joker role.

The Ambien thing is interesting to me. Did he OD? Or did Ambien cause his death?

Yes I did and I agree with you. The police did have some interesting findings. I just think it is a very general statement made by the family. We've heard it all too often by now and it has become redudant. The real question after a toxicology exam will be the above highlighted text. I suspect the toxicology will be pivitol.

can you imagine how much a 28 year old young man would have to take to OD? half the bottle?

It will be interesting to see what the tests say. If it was an accident, I feel sorry for him and his family. If it was purposeful, I feel sorry for his family.

Ledger's sleeping pill 'controversial' - Breaking News - National - Breaking News

Jack Nicholson on drugs death of Brokeback Mountain star Heath Ledger: 'I warned him' | the Daily Mail

CNN is reporting that Heath Ledger began having problems following the filming of the Dark Knight and that Heath Ledger was haunted by the Joker, CNN also noted that during a recent interview, Heath Ledger looked dirty and was fidgety during the interview. When Heath Ledger was asked about playing the Joker, he said he was having trouble sleeping because of the Joker. Heath Ledger also said he couldn’t leave the role of the Joker behind him, and because of the Joker he had started to take sleeping pills in order to get some sleep.

MSNBC is reporting similarly, but it seems that they're saying he was more over-worked than overly engrossed.

Ledger told The New York Times in a November interview that he “stressed out a little too much” during the Dylan film, and had trouble sleeping while portraying the Joker, whom he called a “psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy.”

“Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night,” Ledger told the newspaper. “I couldn’t stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going.” He said he took two Ambien pills, which only worked for an hour, the paper said.
