Riley Ferguson appears to be gone

I have always been in the Riley camp so this hurts. I have always however that I would support whoever was named our QB. Worley/Dobbs work hard as we need someone to get the ball to this elite group of receivers.

Who cares that he left!!! If Gibson chose to go elsewhere, then I'd be bummed. Did the kid ever play a down!!?? Again, who cares!!!

We will be punching above our weight if we go better than 6-6 no matter who is starting at QB. I am still hoping that once we say goodbye to Worley after this season, we have recruited over everyone else on the roster.

Failing that, I hope Dobbs has way more up his sleeve than he has shown to this point.

The fact that Peterman is still here and Ferguson now isn't speaks volumes... However, I'd like to wish Riley good luck with his future endeavors.

Sure. I've always said Worley would be named the starter, both this year and last. It's a no-brainer of a call for Jones, too. I just don't understand the "I have to play now" mentality. Worley's done after this season and by all accounts the job probably would have been Ferguson's for the taking. That's 3 more years of eligibility. Plenty of time.

This seems like complete horse crap. Had he been pushing for a starting job he would not be transferring.

kid was homesick, and wants to be closer to home.. probably a girlfriend or whatever, doesnt matter.

People thinking its because he was behind peterman need a reality check. From all accounts of people actually at the practices.. he was in a pretty good spot competition wise.

everyone is trying to read farther into this then is healthy.

Sometimes when you try to use reverse psychology it backfires........maybe they told Riley that he was not trying hard enough and that was the last straw for him? I wish him the best!!!! Homesick has nothing to do with it...the kid was a baller!!!!

Congratulations.
You have achieved the single most important thing that 90% of VN posters hope for, to be right. It's not about the team. It's not about winning or losing on the playing field. It's all about being able to come on a message board and crow about being right. You have done it! You have reached the pinnacle of your existence! You are officially right!

I am sure that this a big moment in your life.
Thank goodness you are here to call him on it. A big moment in your life, I'm sure.

We'll this sucks. It's clear from VQ that this was not desired by CBJ or in any way expected. Riley had the most raw talent/ potential of any QB on our roster. You all know how hopeful /wishful I was that he would put that talent to use and win the job this off season. I hoped and thought it would happen. I was wrong. If the rumors that he was upset with being number 2 next season and wanted to start now without earning it are true then he needs to leave. He had to earn it and didn't. Period.

I disagree. For anybody who watched their performances in the Orange and White game, it was obvious who "had the most raw talent / potential" between Dobbs and Ferguson. And while Dobbs is bigger, faster, smarter, less turnover prone, and more experienced than Riley Ferguson, it's also important to remember than Dobbs was also recruited by Butch Jones. Jones inherited Ferguson from Derek Dooley, and he picked up Dobbs in the same recruiting class for a reason.

I wouldn't put any stock into what Volquest says. They're the same guys who were hyping up Ferguson all off-season with rumors of legendary practice tape shown to other recruits and anonymous coaching quotes about "big plays" that never actually materialized in any of the spring scrimmages. If anything, Volquest is framing this news as a surprise to save face. At the end of the day, Ferguson just wasn't good enough.

Losing RF is going to hurt more in 2015 because that leaves Dobbs and Peterman as the only experienced QBs. Jones better have some talented freshmen lined up to come in and bring some depth if nothing else. As well, we are now basically going to sink or swim with Dobbs in 2015.....and the jury is still out on him being the answer at QB.

From Rucker...

There are two summer sessions left.
I would imagine there's time to fix just about anything that isn't an academic dismissal. For instance, I was on academic probation after a beer-infested failure of a semester spring of my sophomore year, and I had to fix some things that summer.
But we know how these rumors work. They're not always true. It seems to me like something is going on, because no one is being quick to shoot it down. But there are degrees of issues. If this an issue, we'll try to learn how serious it is.

That's the Dooley era speaking. If Dobbs looks in the fall anything like he did in the O/W game, we got us a breakout season in the making.

We are loaded at WR, RB, DE, LB and Safety. The only real ? marks are OL and DT. People forget that FSU was in the doldrums just a few years ago, was mediocre the year before last....and that BOTH SEC CG teams had like worst to first type of seasons.

No reason to keep predicting gloom and doom. Just let the damn season play out.
