I made that post before realizing it was possible for Barnes to have another epic collapse 18-2 run after leading the majority of this game. It’s embarrassing and how so many of you accept it is sad. His record speaks for itself. Get some fresh blood in here. Don’t need a 70 year old man with horrible tournament record leading us anymore

Barnes did not bring our program from the grave. Pearl is the one that packed the arena and brought relevance in the 21st century to TN basketball. Yes, Barnes has done some good things, but it is time to move on. Who cares what you do in the regular season if you continue to fail in the tournament year in and head out. The ONLY time he’s ever been to the final 4 is when he had Kevin Durant. And he’s been coaching forever. 18-2 run with no timeouts is inexcusable no matter what the situation is

Barnes took this job and literally took it to national relevance….. to sit here and say that the program’s status from Barnes’ arrival to present day is compatible Pearl’s is a moronic take….. Pearl didn’t take over a program in the gutter. The end of the Buzz Peterson era is light years better than when Donnie got fired.

The whole conversation is dumb. Nobody is firing a guy like Barnes for not making it out of the S16.

I’m just becoming numb. Like how I felt under the Pruitt era in football. Obviously Barnes is an actual good coach, and Pruitt was not. But in college football regular season wins can mean the world. In basketball, it’s postseason, post season. We have 2 conference titles, one regular and one tourney. That’s awesome. But can we just make a credible run at a natty just once. That’s all I want. I’ve been a UT basketball fan longer than a UT football fan. There’s no reason this program can’t be an elite program in time.

I agree and I’m not saying Barnes needs to go. Not by any means. But we’ve been lackluster offensively for 4 years now.

It’s like a slightly better version of cuonzo. But for god sakes barnes please treat whatever allergy you have to offense and the ncaa tourney so these years of talented players don’t fade into obscurity.

Have fun accepting mediocrity. This is the ceiling with Barnes. If you have no aspirations for a final 4 then so be it, but some of us do. Barnes NCAA Tournament record speaks for itself and isn’t going to magically get better next season

I want a final four as bad as anyone on this board, but getting to one isn’t as simple as firing Barnes like you seem to believe. Besides, we’re getting a little too big for our britches if we fire a coach for failing to make the final four when this program has never gone to a final four in the first place.

No that’s not what it means at all. They went as far as their seed dictated they should.

That’s the first time in Barnes career at UT he’s done what he’s supposed to do in the tourney by the seeding. And we still end up losing to a seed that’s much lower than us. FAU has beaten seeds higher than them 3 times in this tourney alone. Barnes hasn’t done it once at UT. he was fired at Texas after 18 years because of what’s happening right now

You have to keep Barnes. Makes the tournament every year but he needs a new roster bad. Since Curry rose to Stardom, the three point line is the standard. Get some guards and quit worrying about these soft big men.
