I said this season! You read. Here's your post. " Yeah, we need a coach that hasn't owned UK with 3 star players and hasn't recruited the best ever at UT the last couple of years! You will be eating your words when UT is in the FF this year or next! Barnes hasn't got a feel yet for how to get the best out of this young team. He will by the SEC or NCAA Tournament!"

Of your 4, only Lanier would be a legit candidate. Ain’t hiring bro, ain’t hiring a coach with a past NCAA problems at our school, and Bama will keep Oates if he continues to perform at a high level

We’ll end up with an up & comer when Barnes retires.

Great coaches aren’t going to leave their current destinations to come here.

Lanier is not exactly lighting it up either, and he didnt have a good record at his previous coaching stop. Wouldn't mind just promoting from within when Barnes retires

We will have better candidates if Barnes is allowed to leave on his terms. If he is pushed out like our idiot fans who get liquored up and run their mouths off want, we will regress back to the Houston, O'Neill, Buzz, and Donnie eras.

He was sports editor of Chicago sun times , EdItor of Nashville city paper , The Nashville Scene & was a plan to bring back the Nashville Banner that never came to pass where he was going to be the editor. Reason I ask is because my brother was @ Belmont @ the same time , his name is Austin . Not sure if you knew him too ? Didn’t want to dox myself by giving last name (starts with A )but to my knowledge he was probably the only Austin @ Belmont back then.

Look guy. You said in your original post he would have them in the FF this season or next. With the addition of Chandler next season maybe a " possibility"
I responded and stated this team will not be in the NCAA FF THIS season. I never said NEXT season, you did.
What is it you don't understand from my statement? You are the one pontificating THIS season or next.
This team is not going to the NCAA FF THIS SEASON> I"M WILL TO WAGER THAT!

You realize Tennessee Mens BB has never reached the Final four
Do you realize Coach Rick Barnes in 34 years of coaching at five schools has reached the Final Four one time, 2003 Texas. Nearly twenty years ago.

Look I like Rick Barnes but to get on a forum and state he's taking the Tennessee men's team to the Final Four this season is an extremely long shot.
Hell next season is a long shot.

The odds are not in Tennessee's favor.
The betting odds are in my favor.

I'll be the better man and move along here and end this discussion. I'm sure you'll come back with something like " see I knew you were full of it and would not stand behind a wager" blah, blah, blah. Even though I have clearly stated my bet in this post and the several others between you and I.
Let's just circle back to this thread at the end of next season. We'll have our answer then.

I don't think Barnes leaves anytime soon. If he does leave within the next couple of years he will push for them to hire Kim English to be HC. He is a very good recruiter and responsible for Chandler signing.

I bet he would push for Schwartz. Too many longtime connections between Barnes and Schwartz.

Think about the prospects -- not that I want or even think Barnes' departure is imminent --- we will be talking about class candidates like English, Schwartz, Lanier, Oates, White, etc. Not a Tyndall-type in that group. UT BB has come a long way in the last 10 or so years.

Depends on what you mean by elite. I think there's only a few of those around and they're not leaving.

When RB retires, he wil be replaced by soneone on staff or soneone that was on his staff at one time
