In re: my previous post, I finally got a reply. Here's his reply, and my response. Please tell me if I was out of line.
I have no allegiance to the Gators, the SEC, nor am I anti-Volunteer. My point is about Kiffin. I was taught - and as an USMC guy I bet you were, too - keep your head down, work hard at what you can control, and keep your mouth shut... at least until you've accomplished something on your own. To this point, Laney's just another kid of privilege running his mouth... and that began before he had coached a snap in the SEC. The Shula kids were also of privilege, but at lest they had some class - maybe it's a generational thing. Shouldn't try to make himself taller by cutting others at the legs.
I don't see anything wrong with a little smack talk. It's quite refreshing, in my opinion. Better than our former coach, who seemed to have given up. Yes, I was taught those things, but I've also been taught that bravado and swagger have their place, and that there's nothing wrong with thinking that you're better than the next guy. Is Coach Kiffin a lightning rod?? Yes. Might he be getting in a little over his head?? Maybe. Yes, UT's record this year doesn't lend a lot of credence to trash-talking, but when
(and I use the UF game as evidence here) all you hear is how the defending national champions are going to run up the score on you, how they're gonna hang 70 on you and there's nothing you can do about it......I think CLK was justified. You simply cannot expect him to roll over like his predecessor, it's not his style.

Ever since choke guru Manning and that loser squad got beat by Florida and screwed Michigan in the process, I've hated Tennessee.
Allow me to fix this for you.
"Ever since ESPN, who chronicled every move Charles Woodson made, screwed Peyton Manning, the rightful winner of the 1997 Heisman Trophy, out of said trophy......I've hated Tennessee."
That's more like it. Can you
HONESTLY sit there and tell me that Peyton didn't deserve the 1997 Heisman over Woodson??
