Another article about SEC Scheduling has been written online, this time by Bill Connelly of ESPN. I reference the article's url address just below along with pasting the main highlights of the article in case some doesn't wish to or can't use the link. I think most on the board have seen these kinds of suggestions before, but I thought his points in the article and the solution given was actually pretty good as it keeps each team at an 8 game SEC schedule and ensures that they get to play every one in the conference home and away at least once every four years. I'd be interesting in what you think. BTW, he had Bama on our every year pod schedule along with Florida and Vandy. Since we would get to play them twice every four years anyway, I changed out the Tide for the Wildcats to make things a little more balanced.

Just ban divisions altogether.
I've written about this before, but it has picked up steam in the run-up to Auburn-Florida. Let's walk through the basics of what we'll call the conference pod structure.
1. Instead of divisions, each team has a set of three permanent rivals. We have taken to calling them pods. Having three for each team satisfies most rivalry needs, as you'll see below.
2. You play your three permanent rivals every year, and you rotate between the other 10. Home-and-homes against five of them for two years, then home-and-homes against the other five the next two years. Within a student's four years on campus, you have played everyone in the league at least twice. Now that's a conference.
Hypothetical SEC rivalry pods
Alabama: Auburn, LSU, Kentucky
Arkansas: Missouri, Ole Miss, Texas A&M
Auburn: Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi State
Florida: Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee
Georgia: Auburn, Florida, South Carolina
Kentucky: Alabama, Tennessee, Vanderbilt
LSU: Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas A&M
Mississippi State: Auburn, Missouri, Ole Miss

A TRUE play off system, now we're talking. It is always argued, due to the money involved, we will never see a True Playoff system, because some of the favored conferences and teams might not get the money they feel they deserve, and they may not win as many championships. This may be the reason, but in any case, it would be great! The AP and coaches polls would mean close to zero, as the best teams would move forward, and those that can't seem to win, would not. Love it.I say we scrap the NCAA altogether and pay VolNation to come up with new conferences and a true playoff system.
SEC needs to play nine conference games. The non conference schedule for most schools in the SEC is an absolute joke.Another article about SEC Scheduling has been written online, this time by Bill Connelly of ESPN. No way Alabama should stay, it’s a disadvantage to us and gives our division an advantage. Don’t want to hear about dodging anyone or not being manly enough to play them. It’s time to level the playing field. How is alabama / kentucky.considered a rivalry? Put Tennessee Alabama back on there and I would like it.
The rivalry has a name, we need to drop the loser mentality. Teams have ups and downs and alabamas will come again. No way Alabama should stay, it’s a disadvantage to us and gives our division an advantage. See this is the problem this mentality is why we need to change you are looking at this like it’s darn wrestling match, sorry bud you need to use that brain and realize it gives our regular season division teams an advantage. When we hire coaches it’s a disadvantage. You can pump up your Testosterone filled ego all you want to the fact remains it’s not a level playing field.Make sure we all get a trophy, right? This mentality chaps my a$$. Football is cyclical. When we were beating them in the 90's, there were articles lamenting the "loss of the rivalry" because Alabama was a pushover, and "it's just not fun anymore". One truth remains the same no matter what... Want to be the man, beat the man.
Yeah, I think its funny that people want to avoid alabama. That game has cost us nothing in the last decade. With that mentality we need to avoid vandy as well. Our three biggest rivals are Bama, Florida, and Georgia. We can’t beat them anymore but they are still the teams our fans most want to play and someday best again.
Name the year that losing to alabama has cost us anything the last 10 years?See this is the problem this mentality is why we need to change you are looking at this like it’s darn wrestling match, sorry bud you need to use that brain and realize it gives our regular season division teams an advantage. The only loser mentality is the one that believes it’s a level playing field. Does Georgia playBama every year NO, does Florida play BAMA every year NO, do think their record would be different if they did. YES. If we are good enough, we will get them in the championship game anyway. Use you head and not your ego.The rivalry has a name, we need to drop the loser mentality. Has nothing to do with my ego. The point of the article is to keep rivalries. Tenn / alabama is one of the best. Being scared to play someone is a loser mentality. In this instance you wouldnt have the divisions. And as a reminder, losing to alabama has cost us 0 trips to atlanta the last decade. The only loser mentality is the one that believes it’s a level playing field. I can think of two occasions if we had one more win we would have been to a bowl game, one being the Sugar bowl. Not afraid to play them, just want it equal across the conference and it’s not right now. We have had at least four SEC coaches say the same thing, this is just ego and not common sense.Has nothing to do with my ego. The point of the article is to keep rivalries. Its never going to be an equal playing field unless everyone plays the exact same teams.I can think of two occasions if we had one more win we would have been to a bowl game, one being the Sugar bowl. FORGET IT!!!!! The SEC is NOT going to get rid of the title game! It would result in a loss of way too much money and exposure to the playoff. If anything the SEC needs to add 2 more teams and go to a 4 division set up. The winners of each division play to determine the SEC winner. Imaging if all 5 power conferences did this. There would be a 20 team playoff, if you added 4 other schools who are not in power 5 conferences, then you have a 24 team playoff and a true national champion....all with only adding 1 more game to everyones schedule.
