Should UT keep the "Third Down for What?" hype song?

A hip/dance song in 2013 isn't hip in 2015

I don't think that "Turn Down For What" will survive the test of time.

Stick to the classics that HAVE survived the test of time. Our crowd will be into it this year, with or without 3rd Down For What.

Luke Skywalker or Wu Tang:cool2:

Playing it every third down got old.. But saying the song is so 2013. Well. I still hear we are the champions, thunderstruck and welcome to the jungle at a lot of sporting events.

I have NEVER herd a song get Neyland on their feet before "3rd down for what"

I have NEVER herd a song played by the Band EVER get 50% of Neyland on their feet.

When I was a student, the band played a different song that always got the fans on their feet and a LOT louder than last year. I'm sorry that you've been deprived and never heard Rocky Top in our glory years. Maybe you can find a video of it on YouTube

Only when the fans/team needs a boost, critical situations, etc. Every single third down is complete overkill. I loved it at first, but by the end of the season hearing it every single third down was driving me nuts.

Maybe we could make this a part of the Get Back coach's job on the sidelines. Let him carry a 3D4W remote clicker and when he's not keeping the team and coaches behind the sideline, he could click yes or no on each 3rd down based on need.

I agree with previous posters who think this will be last year.

I just don't want it to be like Virginia Tech entering the field to 'Enter Sandman'. I'm sure back in 1992 or 93 that was awesome. Pretty outdated now.

Disagree. I think it's still one of the coolest entrances in college football.

Vote how you want to vote, but it's coming back and I wouldn't expect it to go away anytime soon.

Well maybe you wanna pass the stats up to the guys in charge and let them know that basically 55% of us are tired of hearing that old noise 25 times a game lol. Like I said...update the song every season.

Personally I thought it was amusing when it would start playing, then somebody fouled so the music stopped. Then it starts playing again, then the other team calls a time out and the music stops. Then it starts playing again and the ref calls time out to add time back onto the clock so it stops and then our DJ is like...

Oh man that was so old by the end of the year. I just figured it had a good run and did it's job. You hear it on insurance commercials now and other teams use it all the time. Even ESPN was using it. DJ Snake got paid, LIL JON got paid, it's played. Have a little bit of class. It has nothing to do with Tennessee football anymore. Lil Jon sold that track to anyone that looked in their direction.

I think it could still be used in key 3rd down situations if our defense is holding up & having succes on 3rd down.Hearing it every 3rd down was a lil much. There are many songs out there that can be used along with that one so any one doesn't wear itself out. When & where to play what song is what make it be something that fans like & want.We will always want Rocky Top when the Team scores or makes a big play on either side of the ball. It's a fine line when traditionalists do not like change or some of the new trends but the players like it & it creates an atmosphere that aides or helps in recruiting at least in a small way imo. It's like most things, too much is overkill but if we continue to climb back to where we belong I don't think too many will mind either way.

Turn down for what.. Lyrics.

Just in case you didn't know. Not quite Dylan, Lennon/McCartney.. but it has it's niche, I suppose, in a world I don't live in.

Musical interpretation note:
"Loud" is high quality, strong smelling Marijuana. It's called loud because of the potent smell. It's like saying "this music stinks," you can't smell music but you can explain how you feel about it through interpretations of other senses.
He is saying how cool he is and that he will not turn down, only turn up because he is very turnt.

Song:
Fire up your loud
Another round of shots

Turn down for what
Turn down for what
Turn down for what
Turn down for what
Turn down for what
Turn down for what
Turn down for what
Turn down for what
Turn down for what

Fire up your loud
'nother round of shots
Fire up your loud
'nother round of shots
Fire up your loud
'nother round of shots
Fire up your loud
'nother round of shots

Turn down for what
Turn down for what
Turn down for what
Turn down for what
Turn down for what

Pretty much a modern day Shakespeare, IMO.
