Return of Third Down for What?

Should UT keep the "Third Down for What?" hype song?

but this is also third down for what. Fire up your Crowd and 'nother 4th down.

I'm a 58 year old white guy and feelin' it.
I'll be clear.. I'm not exactly trying to be critical. I've experienced the generation gap first hand as a youth.
If my parents were calling the shots back when I was a student, Lawrence Welk would have been on the sidelines firing up the crowd with the Lennon sisters at his side.

And speaking of old white guys not understanding that they are singing about pot... (this cracks me up)

How about we limit it? Maybe one per drive or one per drive + unlimited when opponent is inside redzone?

Just seemed silly last year when an opponent would be on like a 90 yard drive and we hear it ten times and still get scored on.

It is my fervent prayer that our defense will be good enough to limit it to one per drive.....

I bet it goes away next year after lackluster crowd participation this year. It's tired.

I hope so!

I was watching a replay of the 2013 Iron Bowl (where Auburn returned the FG) and they were playing this song.

It's not new and it is annoying 50 times per game.

Y'all seem to care so much about making sure that whatever can help recruiting needs to be done. This made Neyland loud and Lil Jon actually came here. That's going to leave an impression that we never used to leave. It's a sign of the times. A vocal minority of band members might care, but the overwhelming majority are not upset. We're talking about select members from a group that, in the past, has celebrated losing to Vanderbilt because it meant not having to go to a bowl game.

Also, the Pride has had decades to come up with something to play before every third down that will get everyone to stand up and yell. The last few years proved that this hasn't been achieved. If at first you fail over and over again, the powers that be will take that opportunity from you. Oh, and it went over like gangbusters.

That is hilarious...must be a white guy in his 50's kind of thing. Dale and Gale doing one of the newer songs, lol. The song combined with the them apparantly thinking they are cutting edge cool is pure gold...thanks

As long as its not EVERY 3rd down. Once there was a penalty so they replayed the down and played the song again. It got reallu annoying, (guess how other fans feel about Rocky Top) but I do like it. Me and my Vol buddy did it alot at work despite working with Bama amd GA fans at work.

They started limiting it some last year. There was a game or two where we were playing it and it seemed like it was helping the other team because we kept giving up first downs.

I think use it but only in key spots.

I like it, but I would like to see us scale it back to only a few big 3rd downs per game
