Result of constant negativity.

Yes, the program all week heard it. No one in Tennessee is talking about anything else. "They suck", "He's gone" "Fire Him now", "4-8", etc

When surrounded by negativity, you will get subpar performance. Corporations spend millions each yr for positive, teambuliding, engagement of their employees. Results show positive influenced people outperform those in a negative, toxic environment. I've been in toxic environments before but I couldn't imagine being in one near as bad as this football program has endured the past week.

The play of the players or coaching of the coaches wasn't the most embarrassing thing about the game today. It was the apathy of the "fans" who quit on this team this week and today. JMO

First, understand that the real world involves more than this forum and your toxic company.

Second, winners will use negativity as a motivation, losers will use it as an excuse.

Third, if the coaches or players are focused on fan reaction, they are focused on the wrong things and may be indicative of the lack of focus on the field.

Your asinine if you think they don't jump on here to read. With Twitter, they don't even have to come here.

My response, grow thicker skin. Be a man. Play better. Coach better. Prove them wrong. Twitter and message boards don't seem to affect Peen state, UM, Bama, Clemson, USC. This was a coaching blunder and has been all season. You just can't see that

You mean like the negativity Butch spread by constantly telling his players that only 27 of them had been to the Swamp before the Fl game?

Volnation.com defended the team when journalists said our players are soft. If they're out there playing poorly because their feelings got hurt by people posting on the internet, then they proved the Volnation wrong and the journalists right.

If I go to a nice steakhouse and pay up for a fat, juicy ribeye cooked medium rare but it comes out well done and is tough as leather, I get a little upset.

UT is paying for a ribeye but getting a Slim Jim. That's what happens when you order a steak from Waffle House.

I'm kinda hungry now...

And negativity is the result of putting on shoddy display after shoddy display. Jones has been given every benefit of the doubt available, fans are waking up to the realization that he will never get it done here.

I absolutely believe all the negativity can be a factor. I'm also sure that should be one of the easiest obstacles for Butch to be able to overcome.

This is all very depressing. I like Butch as a man. I think he is a decent, moral guy and I wish he would be successful but it's just not looking like he will make it. I'm not mad because there are so many things that are more important than 20 year old guys playing ball. At this point though, I just don't see Butch making it and I don't see UT spending the money to get the kind of guy most people on here want.

Then make the change NOW and give the fans some hope!!! The positivity will come from the prospect of better days. Ask your "executive" friends about that.

Yea I don't agree with this. If that was the case our players are even more soft than they are accused of being and the Coach's need to find a job at school where football isn't as import. We've been playing bad even without the negativity. I would seriously question heart, backbone and softness if that has anything to do with the poor play. It is more Coaching, playcalling, player development. And it was obvious a very small amount of the players had any desire to be on the field today. Don't know if it's a layover, looking ahead to next week or if they have quit on Butch. Only the Players and Coach's know that answer. Wouldn't surprise me if there is tension between some of the Coach's and the players. Either way there is zero excuse for how close the game was today. We were one missed tackle, missed breakdown in coverage or turnover away from losing. A 0-4 team went toe to toe with us and very easily could have won and probably should have. They played as hard as they could with the limited talent they had.

You are so right. That’s what the players get from their head coach. Don’t blame the fans or players. It starts with the Head Coach

you're right let's blame the fans not the guy making 4 million a year for producing mediocrity

The issue isn't about Butch's salary.

OP has a valid point but I doubt the players and coaches have a negative mindset. They still have a chance to win the east. It was just a trap game. Players need a week off. We played a no name team between UF and UGA. Umass was just a bit better than our players gave them credit for.
Great game by the D and Shoop.
