Rest In Peace

Atlanta’s version of CBGBs was the 688 Club. Before that, 688 Spring St was the address of Rose’s Catina. Some of Rose’s employees were into the new local bands in the late ‘70s. They convinced Rose to give them a tiny stage, claiming it would increase business. Alas, Rose gave it up, but the scene had fixed on the location, and the 688 Club opened there in 1980. No Roses, no 688 Club. So, maybe Rose’s was the first CBGBs of Atlanta.

I couldn’t drive at that time yet but my sister could. She took me to that show and REM at TBA.
Only time I saw Rage was at Lollapalooza at Starwood in 93. That was the first time I saw Tool. They were playing on the alternate stage. No one knew who they were, there were about 30 people watching them.
