'67 was the year Mom and Dad had the house built in Claxton. From 67 to the early '70s, that smoke stack pumped out tons of ash as evidenced on my Mother's brand new white '71 Potiac Catalina.
Circa '74, TVA was forced to build a car wash that was free of charge for the residents of Claxton. They also installed a scrubber system for the big stack to eliminate the free-ash from the emissions.
