I took my time too to try and savor it lol and I agree on all points. What did you think was the most difficult part?
Played RE2 as a kid and thinking of picking this series back up. Any recommendations where to start?
TIA
Well full disclosure the Resident Evil series is generally my favorite one so I'm a bit biased, but....if you like the original RE and RE2, then I would recommend the HD port of the 2002 Resident Evil remake that came out on Xbox One X/PS4 and if you like that Resident Evil Zero HD (thought that game is not nearly as good but still looks great). I'd then jump to the RE2 Remake, then RE3 Remake, then RE 4 Remake.
RE 7 and RE 8 are good and can be scary but for me I'm not as much a fan of the first person (though RE8 has a 3rd person mode).
After that....I mean I'd recommend playing the HD port of the original RE4 but it will probably feel a tad clunky control wise if you play it after RE 4 Remake. RE5 and RE6 both have HD ports too; RE5 is fun but is more action than horror and it's where they silliness factor of the series ramped up, and RE6 is a mess.
There are others like Code Veronica, and the Revelations games but I'd only recommend them if you go hardcore into it.
Well I'm at my first point that is making me rage quit; the Villa where you have to hold out with Luis and the enemies keep coming. I'm at 10 times now and I keep running out of ammo and health. It was tough in the original but it never took me more than 2-3 times to beat it even the first time. This is much harder and I'm playing only on Standard.
Man you weren't kidding about this part. Took me 4 times. I didn't even understand what I was supposed to do at first. Finally beat it but it took every resource I had.
Solid, I ageee with this advice. I personally would never play RE 3 remake over the original RE 3 ever again, but for someone that doesn’t have the RE3 original in their brain while playing the remake, it’ll do fine. Plus it’s way easier to play obviously.
Yeah that was honestly the roughest part of the game for me, and going in I kind of expected it. The original took me a few tries to beat it. I did look up a guide and the method of basically climbing up and jumping down works well enough and can buy you some space.
I liked the RE3 Remake enough but I did hate how much they cut and playing the RE4 Remake made me realize how much RE3 seems like a lazy effort compared. I was not surprised to find out the RE3 Remake team was not the same as the RE2 Remake team, and they brought back the RE2 team to remake RE4. It's pretty obvious seeing it now.
And I shoudl probably note that I'm old school and will probably always actually prefer the original RE2 and RE3 over the remakes, if for nothing else that playing those back in the day was just one of those experiences that is hard to re-capture. I still listen to the soundtracks for both games, especially around Halloween.
