That French Laundry fiasco is the new bar for tone deaf elitism as far as I’m concerned and that singular stupid act is disqualifying for me. Dont even need to visit the financial disaster that is California on his watch. At this point he should just embrace it because it will be brought front and center at every whistle stop.

Why do you expect one side to continue to play by the rules when the other side has never done so?

Texas has more registered Democrats than Republicans, btw, are they served by being further disenfranchised by a minority government that maintains itself via gerrymandering?

I criticized Texas. My point is the Governors obligation is to the people of California. Not the House. He's intentionally screwing his people. Just like that fraud in Texas. Both are scumbags

Yeah you criticize Texas with the old " oh well it's Republicans, it should be expected."

Any state that has an independent commission on redistricting, should end it and redraw their maps to minimize the Republican vote, and then a Democrat in Congress can put forth a bill to mandate independent redistricting commissions, and Republicans can decide if they want to vote against it again or not.

Everyone plays by the rules, or no one.

And yet R got near 40% of the vote in ‘24. People register for different reasons, some in this very forum have explained theirs.

California is 43-9 D (83%)
Texas is 25-12 R (68%)

Doesn’t appear California has the high ground here, certainly not the “good guys” that are now being compelled to gerrymander.

They’ve been gerrymandering all along.

Fair enough. So I gather you hold the same opinion of Texas Governor Abbott.

Sadly, a "national gerrymandering battle" is the natural evolution to what Texas is doing. I suspect the GOP will ultimately pick up a few seats. But, in the grand scheme of things, UpI think that between Trump's underwater approval rating and the normal history of midterms, it remains likely that Dems will retake the House.

That’s how many people voted in the parties primaries. I’ve voted in several Dem primaries, that doesn’t make me a registered Democrat

So there’s not more Democrats than Republicans in Texas. There are more Democrats voting in primaries than there are Republicans voting in primaries.

Or at least people voting for Democrats in primaries.

There are more people that voted for Democrats in primaries.

Luther votes for R’s in primaries. Hardly makes him a Republican.

Also I believe state wide general election results in Texas would throw water on that narrative. 🤷‍♀️
