Marianne Stanley (Head Coach, Indiana Fever): Yeah, I think Rennia handled her college career really well in the sense of there was a coaching change and she stayed with the University of Tennessee and showed her ability to adapt, which is a real plus in any situation. All these college seniors are now faced with coming into a whole new environment, new team, new coaches, new schemes, and I think one of the things that’s interesting about Rennia is she can do that already and done it successfully. I think her role changed a little bit, and it was interesting to see that, as well. She’s someone who is really good at a lot of things, so she’s someone that can add value in different places on the court. Obviously having the length that she does is something that’s desirable, as well, so I think she’s got very good draft stock.

Rennia's desire and ability to instantly shift focus from scorer to rebounder is her best quality as a player. Every basketball coach on the planet loves a player who will get the team extra possessions by being willing to put in extra effort on the boards. Davis was the best in the country this year, IMO, at rebounding effort -- for her position. Pat would have loved her so much.

If they are designated a core player they can make a lot more
Core players will be earning $215,000 in 2020.

The core designation, or core rule, allows WNBA teams to mark one of their unrestricted free agents as a member of the team's “core”, or, to designate that free agent as a player who is integral to the team's success, play style, identity, and brand.

But they won't be designated as a core player until after they finish their rookie contract, right?

teams really only use core designation on the franchises top players like EDD,Candace,& Maya Moore

Eight picks, no Davis. Maybe she should have stayed in school. Lack of a consistent perimeter shot killed her stock...

This might be a trade. She's not going to start for Minny, and might have a hard time getting off the bench. She doesn't really fill a roster need, so it seems like this was them drafting the best player available for trade material.

Possibly but she could be still sitting there like Mack or the Rutgers guard who we thought for sure would have been first rounders.

Or Dana Evans who was for sure thought to be a first rounder... dang she can’t get it together she was upset she dropped to the second round. 2x ACC player of the year she is a good one

Finally, indeed. A top 10 first round pick. What a horrible, horrible failure. No one wants Rennia except the one team that picked her in the first round!! Heck, Rennia should have just retired (or maybe chosen another sport earlier in life) rather than endure such an abject humiliation,. Just goes to show what a terrible failure Kellie is. If we had only hired Jeff Waltz.......
