Any time a rookie head coach takes over the first year is a trial and error year. Who really thinks he could out coach Muschamp? Really? He is figuring it out. But I'm tired of UT hiring first time coaches. I know he's the 28th choice but maybe they need to address this issue.

won't happen...Coach Pruitt needs time and a couple good recruiting cycles and fans need to be a little more patient and recognize the situation for what it really is...enjoy the Auburn win, for now, until the next game...then enjoy that one...as a fan, I will...season is not over yet...:D

GO VOLS!

If you can't out coach Muschamp who can you out coach? Not a very good look for Pruitt and this staff right now.
Malzahn?

He did out-coach Muschamp. We had a chance to win at the end of an SEC road game at night despite being dominated on both sides of the line of scrimmage. That’s a good coaching job. Muschamp’s seat would’ve gotten hot if he’d of lost that game.

Tennessee should not have a rookie head coach, especially with the program being in a death spiral as it undeniably is. But it's awesome the Vols are providing him a chance to get his feet wet. FSU will appreciate it someday soon no doubt.
You’re goofy...keep trying. 😏

Exactly!

Pruitt, has had 10/11 months with a team that was coming off the worst season in UT football history.
Muschamp, has been a head coach several years and has known most of his current players and staff for several years yet
Pruitt, with this team and staff competed till the end.
Better times are ahead for CJP and UT football.

I agree. I hope every UT coach is successful. I dont blame Kiffin, Dools, or Butch. They did the best they could before leaving. I blame the leadership (or lack thereof) at UT. Until they get their head out of their butts, we are going to suck.

Not trying to get points at the end of the half was on the coach. He gave the rest to the players to win it, and they didn't at every chance.
The game changer was the stupid penalty at he half

Leach has Wash St ranked #14 with a win over a top 10 Oregon team but VN said “Nah”
Mullen had UF ranked #9 before yesterday but once again VN said “Nah”

Would love to have either one of them

After seeing Chip Kelly and Scott Frost so far this season, who is to say we aren't better off with Pruitt? There's no real way to tell yet. I think a lot of people's expectations rose after the Auburn win so this really hit us hard. Hopefully, next year we can look back and easily shrug the past two seasons off.

As I mentioned in another thread, Pruitt is Fulmer;s 5* HC recruit. Time will tell if he can develop that potential into greatness but you cant expect a true freshman HC to contribute as much as a veteran, much less turn around the WORST TEAM IN UT HISTORY in one single year. Pruitt's upside, is high though and once he gets his recruits in and has a couple of years to train them, we will see where his ceiling really is.

The guy is already used to stable, winning programs. He didnt just walk into a bad team, or a bad program, but a mess of an AD. This is got to be one of the most overwhelming job for a new coach. I think he's done well in areas to know if he doesnt pan out its not because hes in over his head in the sense it was too big for Butch. I love that despite questionable calls or management, he always plays to win the game. You start getting a great roster in there then the work will pay off. Maybe hes not the right guy and I was very disappointed in him yesterday but I certainly like what hes doing with the program thus far. It was going to be a miracle to get to a bowl, nothing has changed. I would rather drop the game to SC and have that Auburn win TBH.

I think a lot of us like Pruitt because we saw him take responsibility for the losses. He said he would play the best players even if they were freshman. He took chances. He went for it on 4th down. He kicked it onsides. We liked him because he "just did it". It made the games watchable. So we have overlooked some of his game management and mistakes . Its all about recruiting. Don't think what those recruits see on the field doesn't make a difference. It does.

FSU. They got themselves a proven HC so why would they care about UT’s coach

This is year ONE with CBJ's less than SEC caliber OL, LBs, and DBs. I hope he shows the door to at least 5-10 of CBJ's residue of crap recruits in order to make room for more of his own players.

There is just no quick way to fix this team with over 50% of the players less than SEC caliber. It's just the truth....and believe me--the players who have to watch themselves on the film KNOW IT! And so do their teammates....

GO VOLS!

People are over-reacting a lot. We could be in UCLA's shoes, FSU, or Nebraska's . JP is doing a solid job for a rookie HC.
