Hey, Freak, et al, y'all do a great job, and I am grateful. But I got to thinking ... we do have a Politics forum, where folks can venture into there, or avoid it, as they see fit. Why could we not similarly have a Religion forum? I kinda feel like Volnation folks are my peeps, and I might could bounce off them some of the issues that I wrestle with.🤔🤷

funny timing. I was looking just yesterday to see if there were any threads about Christianity. My searches took me back to around 7 yrs or so but I didnt really find one.

We're you looking to discuss all religions or a certain one?

Well, I was thinking of various moral issues, and hearing multiple Christian interpretations and also where other religions overlap with those.

But, I can see how we might get a mix of not only thoughtful responses, but also some simplistic judgmental reactions, and even some trolls just aggravating folks. 🤷

Im sure the trolls would be coming in force to a religious themed thread. That's how evil works though ain't it? Evil finds something good and tries to lessen its goodness in whatever way it can.
Good point. So, maybe we could just be prepared for that, and do it anyway? 🤔

Instead of an entire forum, maybe start with a thread and we'll see how it goes. I don't mind the idea, but inevitably there are a few posters here that ruin it for everyone. Ideally, we could come up with some ground rules and if anyone violates those rules, they get removed from the thread, zero tolerance.

Thoughts?

It would make sense to ask posters in the thread to discuss thoughts on Scripture, differing interpretations amongst believers of diverse denominations, personal testimony, words of encouragement, etc. Posts mocking or disparaging Christianity could be disallowed.

I don't mind helping to moderate.

Because it's not real or?

*I'm just proving the point that it's a terrible idea

Some posters hatred of anything Christian related is well noted in multiple threads on this site (specifically in the PF). No one is required to post anywhere, therefore if we Christians choose to have a thread of our own, the others need to be respectful and taught that this isn't their site (nor mine) and they have the freedom to keep scrolling, not make a post at all, or deal with a zero tolerance consequence. I do all of these and have never had even a warning from a mod, so it's not hard to do.

It would be a real shame that a segment of this site wouldn't be able to discuss the different interpretations of scripture (which I think many of us believers would enjoy) without being subject to the hatred of others.

I leave it to the Grand Poobah, in hopes we can have good discussions in the future without the ridicule of others.

Thank you for allowing me to share my 2 cents whether we can have this or not. This is one of the best sites around and I'll continue to enjoy it either way.

Go Vols!!!

Of course. I in no way meant to just hide because of trolls. I was just voicing a thought.
Of course. I did not mean that you were proposing that. And yet, I myself might have been tempted to just quietly sidle away ...

... until I rallied and thought, hang on, now, this could be an opportunity to try and take the high road and engage in respectful counterpoints, even in the face of potential cynical nay-sayers. 🤔

Sounds like a reasonable place to start.

Maybe I'm missing your point, but not believing in something is not the same as "mocking" something.

From my recollection, there have been some fairly insightful and even respectful "discussions" between believers and non-believers.
