I think you’re being too hard on the kid. He’s 18 and not at the weight he will be but Calling him soft is BS. If you can point out 1 other qb that wouldn’t have missed time after the hits he’s taken I’ll say you have a point. But until then I’m going with what I know and he’s missed 1 game his entire career and that was before Hs. That kid is tough as nails but has just had a series of unfortunate circumstances in his first few starts. He’ll learn from them.

Sorry, you are right.

Based of quality of play, he definitely looked like a true freshman! He appears to have a good although not exceptionally accurate arm but has yet to develop the reads and progressions.

No, it's fake because it didn't come from tonight's game. The Gump tweet that you posted includes a video from a game in Neyland. Notice the orange mats. Also, the Penguins didn't play the Blue Jackets tonight.

Ending a 12 year losing streak to the current #1 team in the country in their home stadium is a big deal to VOL fans. Had we won and finished 3-9, no one would give a dam about the rest of the season. You must be new to VOL Fandom.......

I tend to agree... took a hit by his lineman... but likely after last week that was enough to pull him. Imagine if he played and then got hurt... bad news for the program.

No win is worth any kids long term health. How long I’ve been a fan is irrelevant when it comes to that. The fact that you feel otherwise is actually alarming.

Harrison Bailey can't arrive soon enough. All 230lbs of him. Maurer is a good QB but is physically two offseasons away.

Nobody never said he had a concussion on the first one against Miss St, Pruitt said they took him out as a precaution and he passed concussion protocol. Tonight they said he had a concussion. Meanwhile Jerry Juedy clearly was out for 2-3 seconds and never went to the tent tonight. GBO!!!!!

I was listening to the vol network right after halftime and they were saying neither QB has came back out after halftime.So that doesn’t sound good at all. Plus while he laid there not like last week he felt it right away! You could see him rolling his eyes to the back of his so to speak. That is not a good sign plus two weeks in a row. In my opinion we need to pray for the young man that he gets through these concussions PERIOD...I’m concerned about his ability to even come back from this to play EVER :(

After that, Maurer was taken out of the game and would not return. Head coach Jeremy Pruitt revealed after the game that Maurer suffered a concussion.

Weight doesn’t have anything to do with Maurer’s concussions. Cam Newton could have had the same problems if he landed the same way on the two concussion plays. It is just a bad luck issue.
