Regarding the T word

How do you "develop" desire to be the best you can be? I think that is more "inspiration"
When you are succeeding in the weight room, and succeeding in practice, I think that makes you want and expect to prove it on the field.

I think it takes more than physical skills, especially in hard games. It takes the desire to be a winner.

I have a hard time believing that at least one of the following 3, Phillips, Tuttle or A. Johnson are not on some teams draft board in the later rounds

Hooker is like a "snood",worthless and worn on the back of the head.Vandy,in the 80's-90's,would go 3-9,4-8,but their defense was in the top twenty nationally because they had a very glod dc who used to be with the pittsburgh Steelers. He took leszer "talent"and schemed them up and had the. playing together.Pruitt,Rocker,Rumph,Sherrer,Fair,Kelly and ga's,candeliver this 19 volteam to topflight status. The "cancers"as referred to by Gaddy,Phillips, andTuttle, should be blocking dummies and not even allowed to dress for games.I'd rather have fatigued players on the field rather than someone who gives 70-80%when not injured. And,if you like dancing while your team and brothers are.losing a bowl eligible game, jump on dancing with the stars in Dalton,Ga!

Alabama had 54 former players on NFL rosters as of September.

https://www.tidesports.com/alabama-in-the-nfl-54-former-players-on-league-payrolls/

Vols had 30 former players on NFL rosters as of September.

NFL Vols: Updated list of Tennessee players on NFL rosters

Would have thought it would be weighted more in Albamas favor although the Vols had 12 undrafted and obviously nowhere near the high draft choices.

Still doesn't do anything to explain why there is enough talent on the current Vols team to beat Auburn and KY but still get humiliated by Vandy and Missouri.

And if players were trying to tank the season to avoid a bowl game as some are claiming on here, why didn't they go in the tank earlier?

In order for Tennessee to win an SEC game this past year two things would need to occur: first UT play flawless football and secondly your opponent would have to help (turnovers, bad playcall, etc). Missouri was tough up front with both OL and DL. Also had a pro QB which always helps. Now Vandy was tougher on OL plus a QB that may make a pro roster in 2019. On defense they crowded the line of scrimmage and made it tough to run and to throw short or medium range passes. BUT our current talent levels/lack of development with prior staff are below each SEC team in the East division.

I am not current on the years of eligibility that our seniors all have, but if any of the guys that aren't being drafted it could benefit both the players and the team to have them for one more year. We have more experienced players and leaders to groom a good recruiting class, keep depth, and they get another year to get looked at by NFL scouts. Win, Win.

It is mostly a matter of development. No, not practice development. It is about muscle development. Most everyone is overlooking that aspect. I don't think Pruitt is overlooking it, but it takes time.

Agree...an overlooked aspect. There is no way around the fact that we are just being manhandled on both lines of scrimmage...

I blame that on Butch and his program. Guys were not developed physically in the weight room or training table. It’s exactly why one of Pruitt’s first quotes was where are all the big guys?! You don’t win in this league without NFL sized men on both lines of scrimmage...

Look up Duckworth's research on measuring and development of grit. It is possible to teach grit. The issue, though, is in the transition from external motivation to internal. You can't have to have someone kicking your ass all the time; you've got to learn to do it on your own.

That's what we're missing, we need the guys to take grit-reps

Grit, size, speed, strength are all important but I hope our coaches also go after smarter players. I’m not calling anyone out but some of our current roster seem slow in the head. Vandy didn’t field better athletes only smarter ones. Football is about team, not feeding big egos.

Hard to understand how former 5 stars Phillips and Tuttle will neither be taken in ANY round of the draft. I get the injuries but injured players from other schools get drafted. Then I turn on the videos and watch them slap fighting game after game after game with players they should be running all over or stomping every play.

We dont know nobody on this team will be drafted. Remember, most and me included, didnt think Dobbs would be drafted. It will all depend on their pro day and combine performance

This team is slow, small, weak and has no mental toughness. That’s how you wind up getting blown out of 6 games, barely beat Charlotte and get punked by Vanderbilt. Pruitt has miles and miles to go to get this thing built back up. Hope he’s the guy to do it....I was certain he wasn’t when I was emotional and generally PO’d last Saturday night. I’m calm now and I’m still not sure he is.

Nobody off this current roster will be drafted. None.

And recall last year after the senior bowl, combine and UT’s pro bowl, some had Dobbs projected as high as a second round guy. I think most thought he would actually be drafted, but it’d definitely be in the later rounds, certainly not before the 4th, which is when he went. There’s no such player on this team, not even close.

I can see somebody maybe taking a chance on Tuttle at the tail end of the draft, maybe even Alexis Johnson, but I highly doubt it. They’re both UDFAs imo.

I think if we had great coaching, we would have players drafted this year, yes.
Nah. Better coaching might’ve gotten them to play better in college, but there’s nobody on this team outside of maybe, maybe Tuttle and Alexis Johnson who would get a better look from the draft because of “better coaching”. Gotta have certain measurable and good enough film to get that....and unless both blow up in workouts for the scouts and GMs, they’ll have neither.

They may have a chance to catch on in the new pro league that starts in feb.
