Refs have to be held accountable, UTAD. You do not budge.

So we're a laughing stock for actually having the balls to stand up to ****** officiating? I would laugh at the ones that just take it like a little bitch. Weird viewpoint you have there.
I am not a Tennessee fan. I am a football fan and my favorite team is in the Big 10. I didn’t even watch the game. After hearing about the garbage being thrown on the field, I came over to see what the Fans thought and what their take was of the incident. I am impressed with many of the members and their responses. Yours’, not so much. I am sure that the overwhelming majority of members of this board and true Vol fans recognize that intentionally endangering others by hurling things on the field is just plain stupid.
Unfortunately, as is often the case, the vehement vocal minority are often disproportionately over-represented. I sincerely hope that this is the case. Tennessee is a proud program with a rich tradition of excellence both on and off the field.
For those that don’t think that this will be remembered are mistaken. Football fans may not remember the particular incident years from now, but the damage is done and the reputation of the program has taken a hit. Competing in the best conference in football comes with responsibility. Fans who call other fans “ bitches” and refuse to see the incident as it is, are destined for a life of frustration. It was wrong, no matter how poorly it was reffed, to try and hurt other people in the name of justice. I am a retired combat vet who would never hurt anyone who was not actively trying to hurt me.
UTK, I doubt that you could recognize a pair of balls even if they were flapping against your chin.

Yes I did scooter. Blaming the refs is the tool of the loser. Just like the losers throwing stuff on this field. UT doesn't need fans like that.
You either never played competitive sports or are clueless how poor officiating can determine the outcome of games. Many games are decided on a few critical play especially with evenly matched teams. Players and coaches adjust to how a game is being called and poor or erratic officiating make it tough. Officiating is part of the game,

Not sure if that would have been my first post.

For one, no one is saying you have to like the officiating. It's perfectly acceptable to criticize officials.

Secondly, there are 60 minutes in a game. One bad call doesn't determine a game. The optics only make it appear so. In reality, we had the rest of the game to stop OM from scoring or scoring more points ourself. Blaming the outcome of a game on 1 bad call is the crutch of the loser.

I doubt you are as high and mighty as you think you are. UTK has earned his right to speak on this board. You haven't. Go away.

Worst offense of the game was our inability to contain Corral on third and long. He converted with his legs at least a dozen times.

The refs and that last spot sucked but that wouldn’t have mattered if we could have slowed down Corral.

I think the game plan was to limit the big splash plays and force Corral to run. It was frustrating I know, but the game plan worked. Take away the muffed punt and we held them to 24 points. It was up to our offense to execute and unfortunately we came up short a few times. Not to mention the touchdown that was stolen from us by the refs. That would’ve been enough to win the game.

Respectfully disagree man. If that game plays out the exact way that it did last night then the refs cost us the game by taking away the scoop and score.

TLDR;
Big 10 fan had nothing better to do and decided to come on here and cry about how much last night hurt UT's reputation. Post sounded like the self righteous and cranky delusional ramblings of someone up way past their bedtime.

Refs were a huge problem, probably would’ve had some spotlight. Lucky for them our fans look like bigger aholes and took all the attention off them.[/QUOTE

Actually I think the kids tossing trash has brought the pizzpoor officiating to the forefront of the sports news.

The strip sack was just an atrocious retraction by the refs. There was no whistle and the refs ran with us to the endzone. You don't do that if the play is blown dead.

The OM flopping could only be reasonably explained if we had a sniper on top of the press box picking them off between plays.

The combination of game-changing calls, continuous loser flopping, Kiffin's return, and tons of alcohol created a powder keg ready to ignite. The questionable spot was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

I'm not saying that people should have thrown stuff on the field, but something was bound to happen eventually.

O Line is thin. Pre season we saw folks on VN saying our OL was fine, deep enough, no problem...... but that's simply not true.

We've been shuffling and poking guys in spots they're not usually in all season. With the Mays bros hurt, we're truly at the very edge of competent..... and thus we find our QB has zero time to look down field.

Hooker, if hurt or not 100% ready to run, will be a huge loss. Milton (who I supported heavily) cannot control his arm and Bailey can't scramble well enough behind our "holey" O Line. Hooker has been the engine for our success. I hope he's okay.

Not coming here a day later to be a prick…..but less than 24 hours later it’s already happened again. We might not see it on TV every time it happens but fans acting stupid and throwing things happens all the time. I wish they would throw us about 4 offensive tackles we could use next time.

Lots of stupid crap happens but when does it stop a game for a half hour? A HALF HOUR. When does it cause your own band and cheerleaders to be removed from the field? When does it cause the removal of the student section from the stadium?

You folks who want to minimize this as "it happens all the time" aren't looking at the extent of what occurs. Idiots DO throw things...... in isolation.....but this went on and on.

It's intolerable for fans to disrupt and hold up a game for a half hour. It will always be intolerable.

Yea….I’m still not disagreeing with you that it is intolerable.

Just the reaction to a commonplace event in American sports.

Braves are playing in LA this week, wait til there’s a bad call out there 🤣🤣

Buddy, the only thing you're saying here is that you have no idea what competition in the "best conference" is all about. "Competing comes with responsibility." Are you serious with that? Do you know the history of this conference? Logan Young falling up the stairs -- that's right UP, 100k in a paper bag, Hal Mumme's Checking Service, Jack Sells Faxgate, $cam Newton, Will Wade's "strongass offers," the Auburn armed robberies, Harvey Updyke, Jackie Sherrill, Charley Pell at Florida, that whole Alabama textbook thing, Hugh Freeze's cell phones, and that's just random stuff off the top of my head. We don't need to hear any lectures about competing in the best conference -- we've been living this life for almost 90 years.

I mean, seriously. Come ON. Responsibility? This is the conference where folks from Alabama tried to get Tee Martin in eligibility trouble with the NCAA before a big road game. Nothing that would stick, mind you, they just wanted him out long enough for Tennessee to lose that one big game, so they spread some dirt and did their best to get him sidelined for 2-3 days. That's just one week in the SEC life. And we live it every week. So don't come in here talking to us about responsibility. We know good and well what being in the SEC is all about. That whole "it just means more" ad campaign is annoying as hell, but it ain't wrong.

This is a childish approach. It's actually like a kid doing something and saying, "Jimmy does it too!"

Who gives a damn what other programs do?

It's awful and it happened in our house by our fans and several here are defending it as the refs fault.

Again, were the riots after some bad policing the fault of the police? Nope. Our fans are responsible for our reactions just like the POS rioters were responsible for their reaction.

Throwing crap at the opposing team and field does nothing to address the bad calls by the ref. Nothing. Rioting does nothing to address poor policing.

We're better than those POS folks.

And again for the 74th time it absolutely shouldn’t have happened….

Im just not about to get in my feelings over something I see every other week.

Again, for the 75th time, a half hour delay and the removal of the student section and the cheerleaders and the band DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY OTHER WEEK.

Difference in the game? Taking away our TD without a clear explanation. These refs need a suspension, stand up for your players and team. They were hosed. That is all.
You sound foolish. The refs did suck. However they wasn’t the worst team on the field. The worst team on the field was our Vols. They had opportunities to win and didn’t capitalize.

They capitalized on one of those opportunities and scored a scoop and score touchdown…..

That was then improperly taken away. Of course we had opportunities to take control of the game, that doesn’t change the fact the officiating was garbage and directly effected the outcome of the game.

Exactly.

it’s up to the league to hold the officials accountable. And they should do so. But it’s not up to some drunk redneck in the stands to do it.

Tell me how they hold the officials accountable? I'm not sure I've ever seen it, aside from the blatant LSU fan/basketball ref that get admonished for totally screwing us in Baton Rouge.
