Red Dead Redemption...

Bigdaddy picked this up today & I played it for a couple hours just screwing around....It's pretty fun.

The first couple of things I did were, Place a woman on the train tracks, & skin a dog.

....this game is all kinds of messed up. But it's great.

yes dont forget the achievement for placing a woman on the train tracks

*Potential Spoilers* I liked the song when you handle your business towards the end of the game as well

Same here. I do one mission, and then I get sidetracked for 45 minutes hunting, helping strangers, bounty hunting, etc. I just finished finding gun parts and ammo with Irish.

Me three. Played poker for a while earlier today. Started off great til I got down to one on one. Kept getting bad hands and losing everything. Eventually I got so mad I quit and shot his face off hoping I'd get some money. He had $5 on him.

also, i think one of the more epic moments i've experienced in a single player campaign was when i first crossed the border and right after this song starting playing while on horseback:

pure awesomeness

The Turkish elite horse runs wild in good numbers down there in one part of Mexico. It's the most white horse in the game, although up close it's a little speckled. We are in about the same place in the campaign, and I kept bumping into them in one area. They are fairly faster than the normal horses you've had up to this point, but comparable to the stallion you get at the end of one of Bonnie's quests.

I've gotten a bit further now & I have some questions.

1. What are the deeds for horses for? Why pay $1500 when I can just go out & break one?

2. Why is this game so much fun?

2. Why is this game so much fun?

1. If you buy a deed, that horse will always be in the corral up at McFarlane's ranch. So if your mount dies, you can go and get it back from the corral rather than hoping to encounter it again. In other words, you'll always have access to it.

2. Because we all grew up playing cowboys and indians, and thinking Clint Eastwood/John Wayne were awesome. Plus, this game is a sandbox, and the game can be whatever you make it be within the medium. The best games are like that.

With horse racing... the best results I've had are pressing "A" once a second for 10 seconds then holding "A" for 5 seconds.

Rinse repeat until you build a big lead then 5/5 instead of 10/5. Worked for that and the several other horse races since. Also make sure you have some apples in your satchel.

I tend to do 5-7 bursts and then hold for a few seconds. Burts and hold. Make sure the stamina stays 70% or more.

Online is hella fun. I nearly bust a gut goofing around killing Jtrain & Bearcat (and getting killed by them) at the same time we were assaulting a mexican stronghold and holding off their reinforcements. Probably not the best idea for getting challenges done, but it was fun for goofing.

yes- trying to hold off 50 Mexican banditos with your own posse lobbing dynamite sticks at you is no easy task.

One thing I really hate is the cut scene for skinning an animal. I found out if you park your horse right over the body, you can hop off, press the button and retrieve the pelt, meat, etc. without any cut scene. Literally goes as fast as pressing triangle three times (or whatever xbox button it is) to get your goods and move on. Very useful when you have 20 wolves lying around and more trying to get to your horse. Hope this is useful.

Realpsing and Austin good times this weekend will add you both tonight. Austin sorry about all the shotguns to the face. Swil my last dynamite explosion was my fav i took myself and 4 members of the posse down with it.

Mason is famous for not only the dynamite but also for pistol whipping you while you're both on the roof trying to get the $5,000 bounty challenge....Greedy bastard!!!

Speaking of which, did anyone get that last night??

yeah, mason is good for beating you to death when you try to help him out instead of making it quick.

I wish my internet connection didn't suck ass. It's gotta be a NAT issue with my router, because when I plug the cable into the xbox from the modem directly, it works like a charm.

Nice tip man. Definitely saves time.

FYI without spoiling anything the game seems like its over twice before it actually does, their is a somewhat secret ending that must be completed before the end credits. PM me if you thought it was over but havent had the end credits yet, ill tell you where to go without spoiling it for you.
