There are actually posters here that believe it's not possible that UT loses Sat?

Anything is possible. I won't be surprised either way. But it's happened once in 30 years, so the percentages are pretty good. We have even won with lame duck coaches, interim coaches, and Butch has done it 4 times out of 4.

Currie never wanted to fire CBJ midseason. If they were going to make a change to try and salvage the season, they would have already made a move. They're willing to let it play out, even if it means going 3-9... which seemed laughable a few weeks ago.

Apparently ticked off a booster and got fired. Which is exactly the same thing that would have happened here had he tried to go against them.

So all the decisions would have been exactly the same or he would have been fired anyway.

Lots of Truth here. The UTAD is nothing more than a puppet of a big booster.

These are good points. I believe what I said about Currie because of what Matthews said. But I believe Blackburn cares about winning and that’s exactly why he wasn’t hired. They want someone they can control and at this point it sure seems like they have him.

Doug made some good points today on the zone regarding an in season firing of Jones. Said he didn't think it would do much. He made the point that whoever the interim would be, wouldn't really have much motivation because he knows he won't be getting the job. I think Doug knows it's over for Jones, he just isn't saying it. Remember one of his best friends is Fulmer. Doesn't want to put him in an awkward position publically.

If we lose to ky I could see them going ahead and firing. If we win though he’s here through the season. The reason you make a change if they lose is you have to try and rally for a bowl game. This “the team stands a better chance of winning with Butch” is 🐴💩 if we continue to lose

Saw were JG’s father retweeted an article discussing Greg Shiano as possible replacement for Butch. With his mom following fire Butch Jones handles I guess it’s no mystery how his parents feel.

He'll be 4 out of 5 after Saturday. What a disgrace it will be when Tennessee's head football coach has lost to Vanderbilt and South Carolina twice, along with a loss to Kentucky. All in 5 years.

Yeah, the UTC president and maybe somebody else wanted him to hire some different people and he hired who he thought would be best. He tried to tell the UT boosters not to hire Dooley and that's why they didn't like him. I think some of them had to eat crow afterwards.

I don't buy the bad players part. There is a ton of talent on this team but it isn't coached/developed right, put in position to show their strengths, given the opportunity early to learn from mistakes through playing time.

That's kind of how I looked at it as well. I think it's probably too late for any kind of turnaround though. Season is over.

That means he would have to be unemployed, but it doesn't matter now if it's in 3/4 weeks or now. Most of the EE's are in the wait and see mode

Their son played at Rutgers, James played at Rutgers, he was actually at Rutgers when Butch was a GA there. Probably close/know Schiano

You play to win every game. To do that you coach to win every game. Everybody on here plus the UTAD knows that probably won't happen with Butch as HC based on how this season has played out. His presence is a drag on the players because they know he is gone and they no longer believe in him anyway. How many examples do you need to see? You go the interim route to remove the ball and chain. As long he is there they still have to practice and play his way - as losers. If he's gone the interim and the coaching staff then get to demonstrate what they can do before finding new jobs. The players get to play for fun and themselves instead of Butch. The new coach that will come will watch their play and see who handles adversity best. The UTAD makes more money because the team may win some games and make a bowl. Or you can keep going down the rat hole.
