1. Prorated buyout means (I think) the buyout sum goes down a bit each week. (Could be wrong here though, please correct me if so).

2. Some talk that the assistants have such an adversarial relationship that firing Butch might actually result in a more toxic environment for the team (admittedly, speculation).

3. Possibility that not firing Butch leads to him negotiating a lower buyout to save his reputation as a HC.

4. Giving Butch a fair shot at (somewhat) salvaging the season is something other coaches might look at favorably in regards to job security with Currie.

5. If the coaches you’re targeting are currently employed, you’re not gonna get them on the recruiting trail until their season ends. No use making a change in October unless you truly believe an interim can lead to noticeably different results.

6. Going to an interim too early opens the possibility of them gaining money with fans, players, and/or recruits to become the next HC. If you don’t see anybody on the staff as a possibility for our next HC, that’s a scary prospect.

1 is wrong.

I mean the buyout goes down every time he gets paid but we aren’t saving any money by keeping him employed in regards to a buyout.

The thing that really pisses me off is the Bama's, Florida's, Auburn's, Georgia's, LSU's, etc of the world would have already fired him. Shoot I'd say most of those schools would have fired him after last year. His leash has been way too long.

I don't know why people keep saying this. At Alabama, Dubose was fired at the end of October (although he coached until the end of the season). Shula coached the entire season. At Florida, Zook and Muschamp coached the entire regular season. At Auburn, Tubberville and Chizik coached the entire season. At Georgia, Donnan and Richt coached the entire season. LSU pulled the trigger early, Orgeron ended with a good record, and they hired him. That was a debacle.

There is no precedent from any of those schools that would suggest Butch would be fired now. None.

I seem to remember everyone wanting Morris a couple years back. He was highly thought of at Clemson

We are at risk of missing a bowl though. Look at what we have left:

UK: ?
Southern Miss: should win
Missouri: ?
LSU: loss, IMO
Vandy: ?

Sure we can make a bowl but it’s definitely an uphill climb. I don’t think we can win 2/3 of those question makes games.

Southern miss is better than you think. They almost won vs UK

Edit: added almost :)

Oops youre right my fault!

Also, everything the haslams touch regardung spoorts turn to poop.

What else besides the Browns? Big Jim has been involved with UT for 60+ years. Jimmy just happened to buy a franchise that was already bad. Is there something else?

USM was better than UK in ever aspect except QB/RB. Watched the game. USM had two opportunities to tie or win in the 4th quarter and could not get their O to do anything.

He'd be a good hire. I'd like him to go raid Clemson's assistants.

Dude is truly an offensive wizard. He’s basically like Gus at Auburn. His O has a lot of smash mouth principles to it as well. Also, the dude is country as cornbread, he would fit right in here.

One thing to keep in mind, UK has a really good field goal kicker. We often get bailed out against bad kickers in close games. I predict special teams is the difference Saturday

I could see all of the above firing Butch after last year.

1. That’s shifting the goalposts. We’re taking about mid season firings.

2. In the past 5 Years alone we’ve seen LSU and UF bring back HCs after seasons as bad or worse than Butch’s 2016.

What else?? Our once proud football team that Big Jim seems hell bent on destroying while trying to turn us into an top academic and research university.
