1. Prorated buyout means (I think) the buyout sum goes down a bit each week. (Could be wrong here though, please correct me if so).
2. Some talk that the assistants have such an adversarial relationship that firing Butch might actually result in a more toxic environment for the team (admittedly, speculation).
3. Possibility that not firing Butch leads to him negotiating a lower buyout to save his reputation as a HC.
4. Giving Butch a fair shot at (somewhat) salvaging the season is something other coaches might look at favorably in regards to job security with Currie.
5. If the coaches youre targeting are currently employed, youre not gonna get them on the recruiting trail until their season ends. No use making a change in October unless you truly believe an interim can lead to noticeably different results.
6. Going to an interim too early opens the possibility of them gaining money with fans, players, and/or recruits to become the next HC. If you dont see anybody on the staff as a possibility for our next HC, thats a scary prospect.
1 is wrong.
I mean the buyout goes down every time he gets paid but we arent saving any money by keeping him employed in regards to a buyout.
