The Vols have opened as a 14 point favorite. If I was a betting man, I would take SC and the points.
Realistic? Have you seen Cat post during the game? lol I think you both are underestimating your own team and giving SC way to much credit. As far as our offense, other than Bama we have put up over 30 points on teams. Our O line will be back and one of our best LB's.
UT 40
SC 14
InVOLbone at it again.
You and vols4us and Catbone are a frustrating trio at times.
Butch has taken us from the cellar of the east to 7 wins to 9 wins to what should be a minimum of 10 wins, maybe more this year. We have been in the top 10 three weeks so far this year. We could climb back in it before the end of the year. We have suffered what is probably the most severe injury epidemic of any team in the modern era, yet we have only suffered one embarrassing loss, and that to the best team in the land. And you guys always seem to have something negative to say.
Maybe we should focus more on the positives and the good things to come. Are we perfect? No. Can there be improvement in places? Of course. But Butch has us in a vastly better place than we've been in in 10-15 years.
Sam. I have to laugh. You're too sensative my brother. I love Butch. I love where he's taken us. This team just doesn't beat other teams badly. It's not in their makeup.
While we're somewhat healthier, we're still missing some major cogs, especially on defense. It's an away game against a SC team that seems to always play us tough. Even last year with an interim coach at our house, the game came down to the wire.
Even Butch will tell you, there are no easy SEC games. We are razor thin and I suspect because of that, it will be a conservative game plan. There is nothing negative about what I said.

What about the last few weeks of things you have been posting?

This is where I really disagree with you. TN TECH and Misery at least will be two blow outs.
I was talking more about conference games but yes, we should demolish Mizzou. I'll have to see it to believe that. This team has a way about it. They seem to play at whatever their competition is. They have still not played 4 qtrs of football.
I agree with the exception of Ohio and Appy State. Have we beat a team other than VT by 14 or more points?
Edit: I just checked, no we haven't.
We have been playing more of a complete game now starting with A&M. Of course it doesn't look like because of all the turn overs in the A&M game but I believe we should have beaten them by at least 14. But anyway, I think Vandy will be the only defense that may give us a challenge. I say we beat everyone on the rest of the schedule by 14 or more. Of if we stay healthy.
I hope history doesn't repeat itself! But this SC game reminds me of my first road game ever as a young Vol.
The year is 1992. Early in the year TN is riding high. They defeat both the Gators at home and the Dawgs on the road. TN is all but set to represent the SEC East in the inaugural SEC Title game!
But then the Vols suffer a last second heartbreaking defeat to the newly added Hogs of Arkansas. Then the next week they follow that up with a big loss to the top ranked Crimson Tide and eventual national champions.
It's OK because TN has the head to head over Florida and they still have many losable SEC games left. All TN has to do to still go to the SEC title is beat the lowly Gamecocks, Wildcats and Commodores.
But as a 7 year boy I head to Williams Brice on Halloween with my family. I am just as concerned with going trick or treating then watching this game but my Dad promises we will trick or treat in Columbia after the Vols get the big win. But as the game goes on it stays close, we are treated to the filming of The Program at halftime which was neat. The Vols score and go for 2 to win the game at the end! The Vols will sneak out what will be the first of many close wins in this series!!! BUT WAIT, The Vols throw a swing pass short of the goal line and Mose Phillips is stopped short?!?! The COCKS HAVE BEATEN THE VOLS.
We then win out and miss out on the SEC Title game by one game.
Seems very eerily similar to exactly where we sit right now. I'm also going to be at this game with my family of my own now.
Is it just Halloween or does this not seem SCARY?!?!
