Ready for the Cubs to be relevant again, that was a good start.

If our pitching comes along, we are gonna be tough to deal with by 2016. It's about time...I love the moves Theo and Jed are making. Bringing Joe Maddon in was the best move they've made yet though.

I was reading some of the posts over on fsu's board about how the commitee rank teams. What really is game control?? It seems like another useless statistic espn made up and now the committee uses now to validate their bs. Bama mite be the best team. Time will tell. Org n fsu have beaten 2 and 3 "top 25" teams as of now. Bama 1. And fsu is undefeated granite its ugly but they are undefeated. By the way Baylor BEAT tcu but they are ahead of them and have the same record ij the same conference. I think we should of kept the bcs. Tweek it a little bit and have a committee that made their own top 25 and let that be 1/3 of the whole equation. Rant over. Let me know what you think.

Fellow Vol friends, I need your help

My fraternity has caught wind of a family that is in desperate need, and the Greek community at MTSU has adopted this family for the Holidays.

Vernon is a hard working man that has been trying to provide for his family of five.

He works at Amazon during the week and Walmart during the weekends. He does not have a car, so he walks to work every day.

Recently, he was hit by an unknown SUV - a hit and run. The injuries he has sustained are as follows:

• Shattered hip and pelvis
• Broken right ankle and leg
• Hematoma of the right lung
• Torn ACL and MCL
• Thirteen broken ribs
• Depressed skull fracture
• Brain bleed
• Loss of over 1000 cc’s of blood

His family is homeless, his wife was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and one of his three home-schooled children has a mild case of Asperger's syndrome. His wife cannot attend radiation treatments until Vernon has recovered, and his kids are staying with friends at the moment, because they don't have a home.

Upon Vernon's release from the hospital, he will have no where to rehab his injuries or provide shelter for his family.

Our goal is to raise enough money to get this family proper housing.

I know what this website is capable of, which is why I bring this to your attention.

If you are able to donate, please do at this link:

If you cannot donate, please share this link with everyone.

This family needs support and I know y'all can help provide.

Thank you.

Reposthing this here. Probably a better place for it, anyway.

I think I'm looking for something with a little more warmth. :)

What's your budget? What climate? What season?
I'm thinking less than $150; could spend more if they're something I could wear for many years. Looking for something I could wear year round. Most importantly keep me warm & dry in cold/wet/snowy weather. I haven't done a lot of hunting but am very interested in getting back into it.

If it's really cold, wet weather and if your feet are prone to get cold, I recommend 1000 grams thinsulate insulation. Problem with that much thinsulate you'll roast in the summertime.

Obviously get gortex for water proofing.

As far as brand goes, for $150 you starting to get into Danner territory which are mighty fine boots. I think Rocky boots are very good for the money IMO and Wolverine boots are not a bad value either.

Danners are legit.

At least one of you has to work for Amazon. Any inside info on when the good deals will pop up? Specifically the XBox One deal, and the 40" LED TV for $119.

OK folks - I just saw possibly the worst played LV game in like - ever. They lost to Chatty. LVs had 21 points at half time and were down by 16. Came back to tie it a few times and totally blew it in the last minute to lose by 4. Horrible offense in the first half and defense for the whole game. With no real big they had nobody to dominate the paint and it showed. There was zero help in the paint for the on-ball defender - they made lay up after lay up. Chatty made them look like they were growing roots in the floor at times. Embarrassing, pathetic display.
