Honestly getting rid of an inconsistent bat doesn't bother me. If Miller can go back to rookie year form, I'll be happy with the trade. We do need some hitters in the worst way.

I'm willing to bet he will not be inconsistent with the Cards. Gonna parlay this trade into a huge year and huge contract. Only hope it ends in a Cards World Series.

Sucks to see Heyward and LaStella gone. Get rid of B.J.....

Rotation:

1. Teheran
2. Miller
3. Wood
4. Medlen
5. Beachy/Hale

Also sucks that Santana declined the $15 million offer to go to free agency.

I like the LaStella pickup by my Cubbies. Crowded infield now, but we needed a left handed bat there. Now, on to signing Jon Lester... :)

SIAP, Vol tennis lost a team member. Sophomore Sean Karl unfortunately lost his battle with a rare form of bone cancer.

LaStella is a really good ball player. Good glove and a consistent bat. Hits for average not power. I'm pissed we chose Gosselin over him.

Yeah I was surprised we got him to be honest. Theo keeps it up he's gonna mess around and win a World Series on the North Side. Man, I'd give anything if the Cubbies could do it. Cubs fan and Vols fan. Talk about suffering...lol

Emotions aside, I actually like this trade. Heyward only had 1 year left and it was apparent that we wouldn't resign him to a long term contract unfortunately. Now, we have Miller for 4 years and a very good prospect in Jenkins. Our specialty is pitchers.

4. Minor
5. Either a free agent or rookie (Beachey and Medlin will not be ready)

That's a good, young, high upside rotation with a lot of team controlled years.

Maybe they can get some production out of him.

I mean, I hope we get a ton of production out of him, but let's not act like the Braves didn't get production out of him.

He has the 17th highest WAR total of anyone in baseball over the past 5 years. He hasn't lived up the ridiculous MVP standards that people thought he would reach when he first came up, but he's still a borderline super star in terms of production. And he's
Only 25 with room to grow.

Having said that, Shelby was a favorite of mine from the moment we broke our mold and drafted him. I hope the change of scenery and a new pitching coach allows him to develop a consistent second pitch. He has the potential to be a solid #2 guy.

I just hope he loses every time he ever faces the Cardinals, haha
