It won't happen anyway. They have the same strengths we had (and it seems we're getting back based on the hiring we've been doing this week). Additionally, the cards have been great at player development. They get a terrific defensive catcher, they develop him into a hitter with no defensive comparison. We get bethancourt. He's an ok hitter and a better than average though not great defender. We need to get better at development, especially hitting and base running in the minors. We propel young talent up, they can't hit. Freeman's a decent hitter, but he could be great, heyward, Simmons, all could add .2o-.30 to their BA and would be great all around players. That's what the cards have that we don't. Teaching their players to bat: See pitches, go deeper into counts, strike out less, make more contact. We need to be doing a better job of that from low-a all the way up.
Development and mindset has always been our problem...is Wainwright the hoss he is if we had kept him?
