Thank you, I do not feel I am abusing the system. My situation is what I think the system can be rightfully used for. Believe me, I live in the ghetto in East Nashville and I see people trading their food stamps for drugs all the time. I think people like that are despicable. I'm a hard-working man trying to take care of his wife-to-be who is in need and taking care of our child. The fact that my life situation has required me to humbly ask for help getting through it does not make me less of a man or less deserving to be a good parent. Life isn't simple or black and white. :hi:

The child before marriage makes it tough. Work hard, marry the mother of your child and you will pull out of this with pride and family intact.

I don't think anyone was accusing you of abusing the system. It is in place for the exact reasons you are using it. Unfortunately it is being abused by a ton of people. That is why I think volsam brought up a great point.

Why not drug test for those who are on assistance? That is something that is really starting to be pushed up here in Ohio. It makes too much sense. And it would absolutely be one way of weeding out those who are abusing the system. I wish the best for you!

Who pays for the drug tests? Those things are not free.

whereabouts?

While I understand how you feel, just keep in mind it's not like those people just woke up one day and decided "you know what? I think I'll turn into a drug addict today." Drug and alchohol addiction are serious diseases. Nobody takes a drink or does drugs and expects to turn into an alchoholic or a drug addict. You have no idea what transpired in those people's lives that got them to that point. I don't find those situations despicable. I find them sad.

It wouldn't be dispicable if the taxpayer was off the hook.

I always have respect for the men who try to take care and do best for their family. I'm sure you'll get back on your feet.

I laughed at the comments about me. I'm half bear, half Klingon.

Obviously it would be a part of the welfare system. Of course they aren't free. But if it was used as a way of weeding out some of the bad apples then it would be well worth it and I'd have no problem with it. I don't mind people being on assistance, the problem is the inordinate amount who abuse it for a lifetime.

People choose to be addicts like people choose to be obese. You can either go woe is me and do crack, or you can say "I'm going to win. I will not break." All comes down to choices and habits. Coach Jones says you gotta form good habits to win. Malaria and Tuberculosis are diseases, not addiction to a drug.

You don't inhale the air and go I got crack addiction today like you do malaria.

You being in office would be a bad thing for everyone. It's not like the people that abuse the system are vacationing in St Johns on your dime like some members of government. They live a pretty crappie existence already if you ask me. I personally am proud of the fact that part of my paycheck goes to the less fortunate. If you make a big enough ass of yourself maybe some will listen to you one day.:)

I do agree me in office would probably not go over well. My 1st order of business would be cutting the government bodies/seat holders by about 75%. Then I would drop the hammer on the welfare/food stamp vultures next. :)

Would turn out to be big $ on the plus side no doubt. A $6.00 drug test which in turn keeps hundreds or thousands of dollars out of an abusers pocket? Consider that times how many current folks on welfare/food stamps tests positive? Cha-Ching!

Glichtenwalter for prez

With my first Executive Order I will declare the Alabama is no longer affiliated with the United States of America. This will dramatically reduce unemployment, illiteracy, and sexually transmitted diseases. I also have a sneaking suspision that Muslim extremism against the United States of America will be effectively eliminated.

boom.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, a THIRD sci-fi universe???

If only there was a large, very talented offensive lineman from Memphis who could protect us.

Whom seems to be long forgotten in this thread.

What would you do about the prison population explosion that would follow?
Or would you cut funding for that as we'll?

So how does welfare, food stamps and drug testing relate to drew Richmond or the vols? They have a forum for off topic such as this can you all discuss it there where it belongs not in a players thread.

I agree.

Now let's get back to discussing the implications of blending (potentially) several different fictional universes in regards to the power dynamics of this forum.

ATP it is easier to continue it here and wait for the MODS to mod if you know what I mean.
