The whole mess needs re-doing. Government is bloated and inefficient. And now candidates/parties can basically buy votes with the entitlement programs.

One thing that might could help some is there should be mandatory passing of a drug test to get government assistance. Why would anyone be against this? It is extremely logical. We have to pass drug tests to work. To get assistance and not work you should have to pass the same tests.

Could help weed out some anyways.

Good call. To even qualify for the 2-3 months of "assistance" people should have to pass a drug test weekly during those 2-3 months. Not just the head of household either, everyone in the house over say age 12. Ya gonna crack down, crack down. JMO

Totally agree with everything you said.

I think Leb is trying to adopt burger.

A Sith Lord always has an apprentice. Bruin was the master until LV destroyed him and took over. Now LV has recruited Burger to be his apprentice. If LV all the sudden stops posting you will know that Burger has defeated him and become the Sith master. It's simple Star Wars.

I did not say to execute anyone. Just stop paying their way. If after 2-3 months of "assistance" a person has not decided to do for themselves, I'd cut them off. They want to live in cardboard box and eat scraps out of dumpsters so be it. I would not be paying their way because they would rather get a free ride than do for themselves. I was raised by parents who taught me you work for what you want. If you can't afford it, you don't get it. It's really that simple.

Life is not always so cut and dry. You are same person that would be complaining about the gross amount of homeless people around your city. I understand some people don't deserve to have certain luxuries or maybe don't deserve to have children but, to take on a problem like that without compassion would cause a rich vs poor scenario and no matter what you think, you don't want that.

Now I believe that people should be given a 2-3 month grace period when out of a job, but if they haven't shown a real effort to get back into the work force their funding should be pulled. Finding jobs can be difficult in today's economy, but you can always move to where the jobs are. Many people either just aren't willing to take take jobs because of their pride, the distance, or they are abusing the system.

I'll agree with this. I'm harsh because so many people abuse the system. I'm being hard on sigchig. I hope the best for him.

IMO it is cut and dry. If the government would stop paying people to be lazy, people would not be so lazy. Do I think people who could work would just give up and be "homeless"? No, I don't. If they were forced to work or don't eat, they would work. Those who did choose to be homeless, let them. They try to wash my windshield at a stoplight and i'll hit em with the taser. 3-4 times doing that and it'll stop. :whistling:

Thank you, I do not feel I am abusing the system. My situation is what I think the system can be rightfully used for. Believe me, I live in the ghetto in East Nashville and I see people trading their food stamps for drugs all the time. I think people like that are despicable. I'm a hard-working man trying to take care of his wife-to-be who is in need and taking care of our child. The fact that my life situation has required me to humbly ask for help getting through it does not make me less of a man or less deserving to be a good parent. Life isn't simple or black and white. :hi:

While I understand how you feel, just keep in mind it's not like those people just woke up one day and decided "you know what? I think I'll turn into a drug addict today." Drug and alchohol addiction are serious diseases. Nobody takes a drink or does drugs and expects to turn into an alchoholic or a drug addict. You have no idea what transpired in those people's lives that got them to that point. I don't find those situations despicable. I find them sad.

I don't think anyone was accusing you of abusing the system. It is in place for the exact reasons you are using it. Unfortunately it is being abused by a ton of people. That is why I think volsam brought up a great point.

Why not drug test for those who are on assistance? That is something that is really starting to be pushed up here in Ohio. It makes too much sense. And it would absolutely be one way of weeding out those who are abusing the system.

One thing I saw a lot of when I used to coach up here in the CPS were single mothers going around bragging about how much more money their welfare check was going to be because she's pregnant again. No care in the world for the actual child, just the money it will bring in for her. It's all they cared about. Very frustrating to see. I wish the best for you!

You being in office would be a bad thing for everyone. It's not like the people that abuse the system are vacationing in St Johns on your dime like some members of government. They live a pretty crappie existence already if you ask me. I personally am proud of the fact that part of my paycheck goes to the less fortunate. If you make a big enough ass of yourself maybe some will listen to you one day.:)

LV, how about an annual 1 week purge of all welfare recipients that go past 3 months?

Jk…:)
