It would be cool if Germany and the USA just play half-assed and agree to a tie beforehand. They both advance in that case.

A few things about that game:1)it was very entertaining but it was more of the US aspect to me than the soccer,2)man that flopping is ridiculous, 3)what is wrong with the announcers? You don't talk about the game being won when it is just a 1 goal game. That was brutal to watch at the end. Overall it was fun to watch.

I'm trying not to be pissed at Bradley over the past couple games, but he's killing me. Played better today than vs. Ghana, but he handed the ball to Portugal at the end off an ugly touch that led to the last goal. If he could have just lobbed it towards their goal we would have won.

Couldn't agree with you more. Bradley should have gotten rid of the ball, instead gave it away. Tie game.... So damn close.

Just got back home. Im disappointed but proud of the grit after going down 0-1. Bradley has played himself out of the starting 11 after Thursday if he can't right the ship. Can't have him losing the middle of the field. He has played two weak games for us and as a former CM, it makes me cringe.

I have Beasley hell last game. He had a solid game this go around. It's hard to be aggressive against CR7 on that last possession.

Jones has stamped his green light to rip it outside the 18. What a strike!

That last goal had enough blame for Howard too. Great game by him but he made a mistake by staying in. A punch, slap or touch probably wins that game. A connection from Portugal increases their chance to a goal too high to stay back in that moment.

30 seconds. To a time I thought was too high to begin with. There's no way the first half was 2 mins and the second was 5 given the stoppages that actually occurred.

Hoping for a gentlemens tie against Germany.

Wow, what a game. Obviously Bradley takes a lot of blame for that giveaway. He is a hugely important player for us though. If we are gonna get a result agains Germany, Bradley will have to be big time.

Am I the only one who is excited to see these freshmen go out and make plays? I know, stupid question but I say this to bring up the fact that Swafford, Sutton and Maybin would have been middle of the road (ratings wise) at best in this 14 class and they went out and made plays against the hardest schedule fo-eva eva. I think more than a few of these guys could really make an impact and imagine if we even had 3 more Cam Sutton talents on the field last year how we would have looked....well in my opinion we have that talent now. Just glad to be able to talk about a positive trend in this football program. GO VOLS

I hope we beat Germany and Portugal wins tiebreaker if that's possible since they waxed Portugal. The World Cup needs Messi and Reynaldo both playing IMO. If USA doesn't advance I'm pulling for Mexico and Argentina.

Yep. And Bradley missed point blank with goalie out of goal. I don't watch much soccer but thought he could have easily placed it. Missed opportunities on both sides.

There was one spot that Bradley could place it and not score. He did just that. Unlucky.

If we look at the big picture, we didn't deserve to beat Ghana. Therefore 4 points is a great spot right now. Just gotta finish the job and find a way through the group.

We had a chance to rest some of these players and 30 seconds too long guaranteed their play on Thursday. Crushing given the possibilities. Not bad given the reality.

Really tough because a win means that Germany would have to beat us to win the group. We would not play Belgium in Knockout Round, and that would be nice.

Without a doubt. I can't imagine if you're a US player and you grind for 95 minutes and give it up right at the end. I worry about Ghana taking Portugal to the wood shed since they have an extra day of rest and us losing to Germany. Rooting for a lot of draws Thursday!

Yep, as I told somebody earlier, it was a crappy way to end up exactly where I hoped we'd be after 2 games. It was painful, but going in everybody was saying a win against Ghana and a draw against Portugal was best case scenario at this point.

I can't see all that straight because that one hurt and thus I been drankin... but, if we tie Germany we both go through. They shouldn't be going too hard, and i'm expecting to get through still.

I'll admit it. I watched the whole thing. I hate things that end in a tie. But the last half was entertaining. I hope we whip some kraut ass this week like we were doing seventy years ago.

Tennessee freshman defensive end and linebacker Jakob Johnson — a January enrollee originally from Germany — tweeted to 247Sports his prediction for the big USA-Germany World Cup soccer match on Thursday.

Johnson, who is listed at 6-foot-4, 230 pounds on the Vols' official roster but according to a program source actually weighs more than 250 pounds, said the Americans and Germans would tie Thursday and both qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament.

But Johnson added that Germany would eventually win the tournament.

I buy these "Create your own 6 pack" things from time to time. Im very surprised with the Truck Stop - Honey and even more surprised how good the Becks - Octoberfest is. I wasnt really a fan of the original Becks.

I think Bradley has been awful in both matches. The last goal is totally on his head. You can't give away the ball at midfield with less than a minute left in the match. Not a world class player. JMO

He was not "awful" in the Portugal game. He did a lot to control the game in the midfield. Top 2 player for us along with Dempsey.
