I wish I understood soccer. I'm going to try to watch on Sunday.

We can try to help you understand it, Freak! I'm sure Dust10, Bruce Wayne, and I would be happy to answer any kind of questions you may have, man.

I wouldn't know where to start. Do you guys post during the games?

Yeah some, but it's a little difficult because there really is no break in the game until half-time. I will keep an eye on this thread during the games this weekend if you have any questions, good sir.

I'm offended that I was left off of this. Especially after my dialog with burger!

An egregious error by you sig. I no longer feel bad for your infraction.

Kick ball, flop, kick ball, run, kick ball, flop (Repeat for 90+ minutes) Occasionally when they are in the "kick ball" phase the ball will be kicked into the net causing the ever elusive "GOOOOOAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!!!!" but that doesn't happen very often. Soccer games are a good time to make a sandwhich or catch up on balancing your checkbook until something interesting comes on.

J/K Soccer fans. No but seriously, soccer is boring. :)

Oh go watch a Michael Bay movie Glich! :) There is a reason that soccer is the most popular sport globally, ya know? :whistling:

I would post more during the games, but unfortunately work is crazy busy right now. I'm hoping to catch the end of the Colombia-Ivory Coast game and any part of the England-Uruguay game.

Before the tournament, I predicted Uruguay to finish ahead of England, but after watching a game I deff see England advancing. Uruguay is old and slow, everything I expected England to be, but England has been playing a lot of young and talented kids.

Yep, England has revamped their lineup. I'm liking what I've seen from them so far.

There's plenty of action within games besides the goals, you just have to know what you're lookin for. It's not like football where they break everyone up take a rest then set everyone up so people can know to pay attention. :p

Also, I hate when people use the "soccer is boring because people rarely score" because a 4-1 game in soccer is a 28-7 (with extra points) football game. Football just counts 1 score for 6 points for some reason.

Does it bug you guy that the government decides what is offensive and not offensive? They could decide antigovernment speech is offensive and throw half of this forum in jail.

Uruguay is a completely different team without Suarez. They looked awful. Hopin he is in form and playing today.

I've made that same point about the score to people before. Maybe if a goal counted as 10 points in soccer it would lose the stigma.

If you can only earn a point by one method (scoring a goal in soccer or hockey, knocking in a run in baseball) it should deff be worth 1 point. In football there are multiple ways to score so there should be multiple scoring denominations. Now, if people appreciate a football game that ends 6-3 as a "great defensive battle," the same should easily be said about soccer if it ends 1-0, but more than likely it will be considered boring by most.

It bugs me. The market should decide if it's offensive. Not a government. I think the redskins will win the appeal.

One of the main functions of a democratic government is to protect its people. Native Americans (of which I am one) deserve every bit of protection from hate speech that are afforded to everyone else.
