Maybe there are too many hills in Knoxville for people to care about soccer. When they play they have to chase the ball down the hill too much?

True maybe your big dogs like Heath, Greene, who do
One show a yr most guys who are doing three or four never really have a bulking phase so there are constantly keeping fat burning.

3-4 shows a year?! I seriously doubt most amateur/pro bodybuilders compete in that many shows a year.

Also, it's ridiculous to believe that competing bodybuilders do not carry out a dedicated "bulking" phase each year. A bodybuilder (natural or "on gear") cannot constantly keep burning fat to the point that they do not need to bulk in the off-season. If this were true, bodybuilders' weights would barely change, they would compete much more frequently, and they would maintain a <5% body fat physique year-round.

Pointless statement. How does that make it a sport?

I believe that he wasn't making a statement on whether or not bodybuilding is classified as a sport, but that many individuals, such as Weider, have made enormous profits off of bodybuilding. All the while many people still argue over whether it's a sport or not.

IIRC, Farragut and Bearden have fielded teams in recent years that were ranked in the Top Twenty nationally - unfortunately. :)

notice he said "for the most part". Manipulating water weight via the diet and water balance for a weigh-in (in the case for UFC/boxing participants) would be the small exception to the rule.

So how the hell did the thread get to talking about intermittent fasting?

Edit: Read the previous pages of posts.

Kudos to those that follow IF. Personally, I just count my macros and create a caloric deficit

I saw what he wrote. I was giving an example of an endurance sport where that is required to be successful. The tangent was originally wrestling, so giving more examples of combat sports made sense to me, and didn't seem like a small exception to the rule considering the flow of the conversation.

Judging by the Crown and Goose, Double Dogs, and any where that was showing the game...everybody that wanted to watch it went out to do so.

They were slammed.

Watching a World Cup US game with a bunch of other people who are interested will make even the most disinterested person want to do it again and again. It's a blast.

Coleman stayed very close to the same weight yr around. Guys like tony freeman, Steve kuclo compete that many times a yr hell it's there lively hood they have to. But this isn't a body building.com it's vol nation hope we land Richmond.

I'll buy bodybuilding. Not to say bodybuilding isn't a sport, but I was referring to a more prolonged athletic competition requiring some form of endurance. Hard to make the muscles go if there's no fuel in there to burn.

The world's strongest man competitors do this. Not calling Haftor Borjonsen an athlete would be a joke at 6'9 395 in pure muscle. Watch it today and learn.

I have never understood the fascination of calling something a "sport". Does it really matter if bodybuilding (nascar, cheerleading, golf, etc) is called a sport? Call it a sport don't call it a sport, what does it matter?

Got into body building 3 yrs ago. Unfortunately I have been in a bulking phase for 3 yrs now and weigh 285 guess I should start cutting

A sport is where two people directly compete with each other. Which is why golf and cheerleading aren't sports as the WSM, Soccer, and possibly NASCAR are.

Ya it's is defiantly a grey area. I just have a hard time classifying NASCAR as a sport. Peyton manning through will and hard work has made him great. Jimmy Johnson got a great car.
