A lot of the Central and South American teams (and Italy) give soccer the reputation of being a bunch of injury fakers. As already mentioned. Watch a match like England vs. Germany and you'll see a very physical match with minimal diving.
Also, you can call it strategy, but it's equally pathetic to watch a football player walking around after a play, look to the sideline, then drop like a sack of potatoes to get an injury timeout. Even though we got destroyed, I was proud of UT for not doing that against Oregon.
