You're correct. It's mostly in good fun. I don't like soccer, but I respect the people who play it. It's not like were talking about golf, which isn't a sport.

If everybody was like me, the world would be very boring. Boring sucks!

Whoa man, you're about to cross a line that there is no coming back from!

Lol, I'm terrible at golf, but am hoping to get better at it. I think my hockey swing messed up my golf swing. I respect the heck out of anyone who can play golf.

If you were 300 pounds, you probably could knock me down. I doubt you'd knock me on my ass. I love people who say they can though. :).

I've knocked 290 lbers on their ass before. It's a game of balance. You're arrogance of it shows you wouldn't know how to keep from whiping dirt off of you're knees. The leverage required in soccer is different than football. But no, stay on your pedestal of ignorance.

Good stuff. I had to whip dirt off my knees from getting hit by 300 pounders. You're being arrogant by saying you can knock me down. Pot calling kettle black.

C'mon guy. Now you want us golfers to react to that shot? You are talking about one of the most difficult sports I have ever attempted - and I played D-1 baseball and could have played D-1 football back in the day. For every Lumpy or Kevin Stadler there are 50 guys that are in excellent condition like Tiger and Adam Scott.

Who are you directly competing against besides the weather? Nobody defends the ball.

Not arrogant. I know you don't understand the leverage in the sport by your weight criteria so it wouldn't be hard. I'm done with this convo, my salad is ready. ;)

All I had was leverage, so I know how to use it. Have fun being in denial.

Seriously if you played o line and d tackle there is no way you could physically play soccer. And I promise no matter how big or strong you think you are, a quality slide tackle would take you down.

I lost a lot of weight since high school. I've also had my fair share of people going for my knees. Just take a step in a different direction and watch them miss.
If they were successful, I'd spike them while jumping.

LOL so much ignorance in this statement man. 1. "Spiking" someone would get you thrown out and your team would be forced to play 10 vs 11.

2. Avoiding a slide tackle isn't like avoiding a guy tryin to cut block you at your knees... You don't slide in aiming at the knees. And a guy could have 30 yards of momentum built up not a couple of steps.

3. If you're dribbling you can't just side step away it's not that simple, guys with elite quickness like Ronaldo get caught with a slide tackle it happens.

I actually saw ronaldo jump over a slide tackle to get a goal. It was a bit impressive. You wouldn't catch me dribbling the ball in soccer either. I'd be a defenseman.
I think I'd get thrown out of a soccer game. I'd find a way to make someone pay for a slide tackle.

Manly salads.

Is that before or after they fall over 'in agony' and cry to the ref?

Its right after they watch college football players fake injuries to slow down the offense and right before they watch NBA players act like they got knocked out by mike Tyson.

Flopping and faking happens in all contact sports except maybe hockey. Some it's more prevalent yes, but happens in all.

That's why I hold a lot of respect for hockey players.

This proves my point of football leverage and soccer leverage not being the same. You won't be able to bail from a slide tackle especially if you played on the line in football. Chances are, you won't have time to react.

I loved when a DE or OT was on defense. The thud is so much louder when they fall. They get so mad about it and show their ass too. I'm confident because I've gone against Florida's football players who are in a 6A classification that overdo the upper body physicality and end up face first in grass.

Spiking won't help you at all. I'd welcome it. Besides you'd probably miss anyways. A 180-210 lbs guy doesn't move like a lineman cutting at your knees so good luck being fast enough for that bush league attempt.

With all that being said, it's not like Clint Dempsey can be plugged in as a TE and be successful because he plays soccer. Ocho Cinco failed miserably at the switch on a crappy team in a crappy league and he was a thousand times more in shape than you and I will ever be.

Soccer is a very physical sport you just may not be able to see where it happens. It's all lower body and hips when most non soccer people look for upper body contact. If Germany plays England, watch it. It'll be a fun, physical match. It's not a personal attack, per se, so don't take it that way. You just don't know and I don't expect you to. :hi:

Dives by divas on phantom contact, 88? Exactly my point. I never see physical contact in soccer, but I see plenty of guys crying on their backs.

Bruce Wayne, I don't watch the NBA or any basketball outside of march madness for the same reason.

As for football, it's strategy, not to get a foul (except for punters and kickers, which are often soccer players at some point in their lives, so they don't count). When you're crying for the ref to give the other team a penalty, you're a p***y. When you're using the rules to give yourself an advantage it's strategy.

That would actually be better for me. I have a way stronger lower body than upperbody. I'm actually below 180 now :). I would be absolutely terrible at soccer. There's no mistake about that. It would be funny to watch me fail at another sport.

A lot of the Central and South American teams (and Italy) give soccer the reputation of being a bunch of injury fakers. As already mentioned. Watch a match like England vs. Germany and you'll see a very physical match with minimal diving.

Also, you can call it strategy, but it's equally pathetic to watch a football player walking around after a play, look to the sideline, then drop like a sack of potatoes to get an injury timeout. Even though we got destroyed, I was proud of UT for not doing that against Oregon.

A ranking of flopping per capita, per sport(least to most):

Hockey
Rugby
Football

Basketball

Belly flopping competition(some of the retards dive)
Soccer

:)

Sometimes nothing. Just take it or try to dive out of it and get up quicker than the other goon. You do have plays like Ronaldo but I reference you to knowshon Moreno jumping over a defenders head. It's similar to that, to be honest. A slide tackle is obviously not a sure thing so this is all assuming the tackle is on target. Like a football tackle isn't a sure thing with its angle. It's not as smash mouth as football that's for sure but it's physical nonetheless. Anyone who says differently didn't play past coed rec and really wouldn't know.

Personally, I don't blame the USA for hating soccer. The Latin countries are more finesse (like a Oregons spread) and ruin the game. All while England and Germany play more like Alabama or the old Tennessee with smash mouth power. The USA team is like that but they resemble Wisconsin more so in terms of lesser pure talent behind that style.

Good for you for getting down to 180. It's hard without a team sport pushing you at a practice. I don't know about you but I'm a field guy. Not a gym rat. Give me a ball and a court or field and I'm happy. Give me a kettle bell and I'll walk away lol.
